  • Check to see whether your occupation is on the relevant list of Eligible Skilled Occupation List.
  • Your skills assessment must match your occupation and be from a recognized authority. It should be within 3 years of the invitation date, and if based on an Australian student visa qualification, it must be from a CRICOS-registered course.
  • Medical practitioners need unconditional/general or conditional specialist registration from the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and must demonstrate it upon invitation to apply.
  • To be considered for the visa, you have to have at least 65 points. In some conditions, even if you have 60 points, the Australian Government will give you an additional 5 points so that you can apply for this visa. Use the points calculator to check how many points you might score
  • Submit an expression of interest. Make sure you submit all true information because the information will be verified once you apply for the visa. The cost for the application is 0 (when you submit an EOI).

2. After you Submit an Expression of Interest

While your application is being followed by the authorities, make sure you comply with the following. 

  • Once you express an interest in working in Australia through SkillSelect, your application will be viewed by the relevant authorities.
  • During the processing time, make sure you remain lawful and do not break any rules.
  • You need 65 points or more to fulfill the eligibility. 
  • Your application will be viewed by states and governments who will then nominate you for the visa. 
  • If your conditions change or you want to apply for a different visa, you have to make the changes through SkillSelect. 

3. When/If you get Nominated for a Subclass 190 Visa

If you get nominated for the visa, here are the steps you need to follow. 

  • After the Australian government invites you, you will have up to 60 days to apply for the Subclass 190 visa. 
  • The offer letter will specify how much score you need for the successful application of your visa. 
  • Your visa application is not assessed or carried forward if you have lied on your Submission of interest and do not meet any of the eligibility criteria.

  • Log onto your SkillSelect account. Now, click on the ‘Apply for Visa’ button.

6. Wait for your Visa Outcome

  • If you are granted the visa, you will be informed about your visa grant number, the date when your visa applies, and any conditions that you have to fulfill. 
  • If your visa is refused, you will be informed about why your visa was rejected. Moreover, the authorities will confirm whether you have a right to review your decision.

Cost of Application for Subclass 190 Visa

The Subclass 190 Visa application fee for the primary applicant is AUD4,640. Depending on the number of family members you have, the cost will vary accordingly. To determine the exact visa cost, you can use the Visa Pricing Estimator. 

Moreover, for applicants who are 18 or older, there may be considered a second installment or an additional charge. This applies when the individual has less than functional English. 

This charge is only requested when the visa is granted. The second installment fee for family members amounts to AUD4,885. Please note that the Visa Pricing Estimator doesn’t cover the second installment or other potential expenses like health assessments, police certificates, and biometrics.

Application Conditions (Location) for Subclass 190 Visa

You have the flexibility to submit your visa application whether you are within or outside of Australia, excluding situations within immigration clearance. For applicants within Australia, it’s crucial to maintain a substantive visa or meet the criteria below to validate your application.

  • Bridging B visa (Subclass 020)
  • Bridging C visa (Subclass 030)

The visa grant letter specifies the entry date if outside Australia. Ensure a valid visa and passport when departing. Complete the Incoming Passenger Card upon arrival.
