Via del Pellegrino

Via del Pellegrino first called “via degli orafi”, to emphasize the large amount of goldsmith shops that found in this area. The current name is due to the nearby Osteria del Pellegrino that welcomes the faithful visiting St. Peter’s Basilica. The old artisan shops of the surroundings replaced almost everywhere by more modern shops that have nevertheless maintained the popular and rough style. It is not difficult to find commercial premises that sell handmade objects, frames, lamps and small furniture, as well as those of shoes, bags and clothes of some of the most renowned Roman designers of the moment.

Prices are not very affordable, but a tour even just to look at the boutiques of vintage garments and ateliers that are in this area is a must. There is no shortage of craft shops and art galleries. A special mention deserves the Mercatino di Monti, which every Sunday attracts hundreds of curious people looking for vintage and handmade objects.

Already the name suggests a gem: “Chez moi” my house. Yes, because hidden among the streets of the chaotic Piazze Sempione is this small boutique of really delicious artisan brands. At Chez moi you will find a type of Nordic style, with accessories and lines of minimal women’s clothing, extravagant but in moderation (this summer we fell in love with the fabric with giraffins that was a wonder). Also bags, belts, costume jewelry accessories (past summers we took kg of coral earrings to wander around the islands with great class).

Actually at Chez moi there is also a small corner of small home accessories, a sideboard where you can find glasses, cups, frames and much more.

Not far from Vatican City there is another important commercial clothes street of Rome. These are via Cola di Rienzo and the nearby viale Giulio Cesare, via Ottaviano and via Candia, all located in the Prati district. Here, in fact, you can buy fashionable and youthful objects but also everything related to the daily routine, thanks to the presence of one of the last indoor markets left in Rome and located in Piazza Unità.
