Panshill Accommodations Review: Self catering luxury lodge retreat in Oxfordshire
Summer is finally on it’s way in the UK, and I’m so looking forward to getting out and about more and enjoying the sunshine while we have it. When it comes to summer staycations, I love finding places where you can combine flexibility with Luxury. So, when the opportunity to stay at one of Panshill Accommodations’ Luxury Lodges came up, I was keen to see if they could create a home away from home whilst still creating a luxury getaway experience.

Located in the gloriously green Oxfordshire countryside, Panshill Accommodations promises a haven of luxury and tranquility to it’s guests. With its prime location, close to Bicester Village and the city of Oxford, this hidden gem provides an idyllic retreat for those seeking a perfect blend of natural beauty and refined comfort within easy reach of some great local attractions.
In addition to it’s luxury lodges, the Panshill Leisure complex also offers accommodation in the form of bungalows and en-suite rooms. Each room, lodge and bungalow has been decorated tastefully and independently, giving the lodgings a wonderfully unique touch, with no two being the same.
There is plenty to enjoy outside of your room at Panshill Accommodations too. The grounds feature several acres of woodland, walking paths and fishing lakes (which you can purchase a day ticket to use), all within a securely gated area. If you’re lucky like we were, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to spot some of the local wildlife too. I even saw a deer running across the woods during an early morning walk!
Where are Panshill Accommodations Luxury Lodges located?
Nestled in the Oxfordshire countryside, Panshill Accommodations enjoys a prime location that offers the best of both worlds. Situated within close proximity to Bicester Village, a renowned luxury shopping outlet where you can indulge in a world of high-end fashion and designer brands often at heavily reduced prices.
The historic city of Oxford is also just a short drive away, where you can spend a day exploring iconic landmarks, immerse yourself in rich cultural heritage, and wander through the prestigious University of Oxford grounds.
Getting to Panshill Accommodations Luxury Lodges
Panshill Leisure is easily accessible by car, and offers secure parking onsite throughout your stay behind a gated entrance. It’s easy to reach from the M40, and takes under two hours to get there from London or Birmingham.
Although there is no direct public transport link to Panshill Leisure, you could arrive by train to the Bicester Village station and get a taxi from there, which would take around 15 minutes.
Inside the lodge – room features and review
The first thing I took note of when we arrived at our lodge was the way that space had been used to create an airy, yet cosy, home-away-from-home environment. The lodges boast an elegant open plan layout that seamlessly blends the living, dining, and sleeping areas, creating a spacious and inviting atmosphere. Each lodge is also uniquely designed with cosy, modern decor. Ours had lovely pops of a nice spring green throughout.
Inside the luxury self-catering lodge
With all the amenities you could need for a comfortable self-catering stay, including a fully equipped kitchen and a spacious bathroom with a bath, the luxury lodges at Panshill Leisure are perfectly suited to a long weekend break. We found it to be ideal as we could settle in quickly and start enjoying our surroundings straight away.
With extra touches such as bath robes and slippers and prosecco and chocolates on arrival, all you really need to think about bringing with you is your food (unless you plan to eat at some of the great locally recommended restaurants) and your clothes!
For one day of our stay I needed to work remotely too, so having fast and reliable Wi-Fi inside the lodge was fantastic. There’s even a widescreen TV where you can access Netflix if you fancy a movie night.
Outdoor space and hot tub
Step outside of your lodge, and you’ll discover your own little secluded outdoor area, offering a private space where you can immerse yourself in the sounds of birds in the surrounding woodland. The decking area, which has al-fresco seating for two, is the perfect spot to unwind, sip your morning coffee, or savor a glass of wine as the sun sets behind the trees.
Of course, I have to make a special mention of the hot tub! Each of the Luxury Lodges at Panshill Leisure feature a private hot tub where you can sink in and relax with those welcome bubbles, all whilst surrounded by the peaceful countryside. I have to say, having your own hot tub certainly feels like an invitation to indulge, let go of all worries and simply be present in the moment.
The hot tub was easy to use and also had adjustable temperature controls, which is great for keeping nice and warm when the air cools a little on an early May evening.
Exploring nature around the Panshill Leisure estate
Exploring the outdoor areas of Panshill Accommodations was another delightful part of my stay. One of the standout experiences was the chance to visit and interact with the resident alpacas, which added a touch of charm to the retreat. In fact I learned that one of the Alpacas, Elvis (great name), has a bit of a personality and often likes to jump the fence and wander freely around the grounds!
Taking peaceful morning walks through the surrounding woodland was a refreshing way to start the day, immersing myself in the serene natural surroundings. The views over the fishing lakes were particularly scenic, offering a tranquil backdrop for relaxation and reflection. These outdoor spaces provided a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, especially as I was having a ‘working holiday’, allowing me to connect with nature and create lasting memories during my stay at Panshill Accommodations.
Ways to enhance your stay at Panshill Accommodation Luxury Lodges
If you are looking to add some extra special touches to your self catering stay, or perhaps just don’t fancy packing and bringing as many things yourself, Panshill offers some great add-ons. As part of our stay we enjoyed two of these, which were BBQ rental and bicycle hire, but there are a whole host of options with everything from rose petals to afternoon tea deliveries and private chefs!
Hire a BBQ
With the lovely sunnier weather finally making an appearance, I was so glad that we had a BBQ to use to enjoy a bit of al-fresco dining! There’s nothing quite like that smell of charcoal on a summer evening is there?
The BBQ was set up on our decking on the day we chose to rent it for and was super easy to use, making it a nice hassle-free experience.
Hop on a bicycle
We found that the bicycles that you can hire on site were a great way to explore the grounds at Panshill and get a bit of exercise at the same time (especially after a rather large BBQ!).
There are also some quiet roads just outside of the gates that would be fine for cycling on if you wanted to explore a little further out. Unfortunately, we were tight on time on checkout day so we just stayed local, but we had a lovely time cycling through the lakes and woodland areas nonetheless.

- Just a short distance away, you’ll find the world-famous Bicester Village, a luxury shopping destination offering a plethora of designer brands and high-end fashion. Guests at Panshill’s Luxury Lodges can also benefit from a VIP pass for Bicester Village that gives you 10% discount in a number of the stores there.
- For a taste of history and culture, a visit to the historic city of Oxford is a must. Explore the prestigious University of Oxford, wander through the charming streets, and marvel at iconic landmarks like the Bodleian Library and Christ Church College.

Panshill Accommodation Luxury Lodge review – Final thoughts
Our stay at Panshill Luxury Lodges proved to be a lovely relaxing little getaway. It was also a great way to break up what would have otherwise been a very long and stressful drive down to London for a flight later in the week!
Considering the cosy setting, secluded outdoor space and delightful hot tub, I’d definitely recommend visiting Panshill for a short romantic getaway or weekend break.
The harmonious blend of luxury and natural surroundings creates an ideal environment for relaxation and tranquility. The attention to detail and thoughtful design of the lodges ensure a comfortable and homely experience.
