How to spend 48 hours in Lisbon
Lisbon is a charming and historic city that offers a wide variety of experiences for visitors. With its beautiful architecture, lively culture, and stunning views, it’s no wonder that Lisbon has become a popular destination for travelers from all over the world.
If you’re planning a weekend trip to Lisbon from the UK, it’s a reasonably short flight, but with only a couple of days to get yourself acquainted with this amazing city, it’s a good idea to have an Itinerary to hand. So, without further ado, here’s my suggestions of to make the most of your weekend in Lisbon!

Day one Lisbon itinerary – Morning
Start your day with a visit to the Castelo de Sao Jorge. This historic castle is perched on a hill overlooking the city and offers breathtaking views of Lisbon and the Tagus River. The castle itself is also fascinating to explore, with its ancient walls, towers, and courtyards.

Day one Lisbon itinerary – Afternoon
For lunch, head to Time Out Market. This popular food hall features a wide variety of food vendors, so you’re sure to find something to suit your tastes. After lunch, take a stroll through the nearby neighborhoods of Chiado and Baixa. These lively areas are full of shops, cafes, and historical landmarks like the Praça do Comércio.

For dinner, head to the Bairro Alto neighborhood. This area is known for its lively nightlife and is home to a wide variety of bars and restaurants. After dinner, check out a Fado show. Be sure to stop at the iconic Pastéis de Belém for what is often regarded as one of the best examples of a Portuguese custard tart. There is usually a huge queue outside the bakery, but it moves quickly and is definitely worth the wait.
Day two Lisbon itinerary – Afternoon
For lunch, try some of the local seafood. Lisbon is famous for its seafood dishes, and there are plenty of great restaurants to choose from.
We headed back into the city from Belem and ate at Maria Catita, where you can get the most fantastic salted cod soup and green wine!
After lunch, head to the Alfama neighborhood. This historic district is full of narrow streets and charming buildings, and it’s a great place to explore on foot.
Day two Lisbon itinerary – Evening
If you’re looking for an exciting place to visit in the evening during your weekend in Lisbon, I highly recommend checking out LX Factory. This trendy neighborhood was once an industrial complex but has since been transformed into a hub of creativity, culture, and cuisine.
LX Factory offers a diverse culinary experience, ranging from gourmet burgers to traditional Portuguese cuisine and even vegan options. In addition, you can explore numerous galleries showcasing works from established and emerging artists, as well as an enormous bookstore that doubles as a cultural center hosting events and concerts. At night, the area comes alive with a vibrant nightlife scene, featuring a variety of bars, clubs, and live music venues. Overall, LX Factory is a unique and exciting destination that combines history, culture, and cuisine all in one place.
