The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a yellow advisory for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and Raigad until Thursday due to the city’s continued severe rains. On Wednesday, flight operations in Mumbai were again hampered by severe weather.
In Mumbai and its suburbs, people may expect typically cloudy skies with moderate rain or thundershowers throughout the next 48 hours. According to the latest advisory from the Regional Meteorological Department in Mumbai, maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be about 32 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius, respectively.
There have been reports of flight delays from Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport due to the city’s constant rain. Due to inclement weather, a few Indigo flights from CSMIA were delayed.
People complained about the airline delays on social media network X, formerly Twitter. However, the CSMIA has made no formal notice regarding the flight timing delay.

Rainfall in the areas of South Konkan, Goa, and south-central Maharashtra is likely to be moderate to Heavy. In the areas of North Konkan, moderate rainfall is expected.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected in a few areas of North Madhya Maharashtra as well as Marathwada.
29 September: Mild to significant rainfall or thundershowers are expected in most areas of South Konkan Goa. Moderate rain and thundershowers are expected in numerous areas of South Madhya Pradesh. Little moderately heavy rain or thundershowers are highly possible in most districts of North Konkan and in a few regions of North Madhya Maharashtra.
30 September: Strong rain or thundershowers are expected in most regions of South Konkan-Goa. Light rain as well as thundershowers are expected in various areas of the North and South Konkan districts.
It further stated that strong winds of 40–50 kph are extremely likely.
“Heavy rain fell on Mumbai and its suburbs in the last 24 hours. Santacruz had 119 mm of rain, whereas Colaba received 116mm, Palghar got 116mm, Vasai received 128mm, and Dahanu recorded 224mm”, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
In light of the severe rainfall warning, all primary, secondary, and upper secondary schools in Thane and Palghar districts have been declared closed today, July 28.
A report stated that “major waterlogging was reported anywhere in the metropolis as the intensity of rain decreased. However, vehicles complained about delayed traffic on the eastern and western motorways, although there was no problem on the eastern motorway, which connects Chembur to south Mumbai. According to the city traffic police, there was a traffic jam on the Sion-Panvel highway this morning after a chemical tanker overturned at Uran Phata in Navi Mumbai.”
“There was no major flooding anywhere in the city as the rain intensity decreased in the morning.” “The majority of the city has been experiencing mostly light rain with isolated spells of heavy rain,” a civic official said.
The IMD has issued a yellow warning, anticipating heavy to very heavy rain in the city and suburbs, with the chance of extremely heavy rain in isolated locations. According to the weather forecast, there may be some gusty winds reaching 40–50 kmph.
The Arabian Sea had a 3.46-metre high tide at 8.08 a.m., with the next high tide at 3.20 p.m., according to BMC.
Heavy rains drenched the city, particularly its northern portions, on Thursday, causing waterlogging in numerous spots and impeding vehicular traffic. On Thursday, the BMC declared a holiday for all schools and colleges. Waterlogging was observed in various regions as a result of heavy rains.
