According to Eknath Shinde, the chief minister of Maharashtra, Mumbai’s roadways would be free of Potholes within a period of two to two and a half years.
He additionally targeted the Uddhav Thackeray-led opposing Shiv Sena faction, claiming that if city road implementation had been finished sooner, fewer people would have died in accidents.
Mumbai will be rid of potholes, and all roads will be constructed in two to two and a half years, according to Shinde. He was addressing a gathering when six former Congress corporators, including a former Thackeray faction corporator, and Tukaram Kate, a former Shiv Sena MLA with ties to that side, joined the Shinde-led Shiv Sena.
Every time it rained, tar roads were constructed, forcing people to travel on uneven surfaces, he stated.
During 1997–2022, the cash-rich Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation was under the control of the united Shiv Sena, which was initially led by Bal Thackeray and then by his own son, Uddhav Thackeray.
The civic body pledged on Saturday to give Mumbai residents pothole-free roads for the next two years in advance of the BMC elections. This follows an evaluation of the state of road construction by the BMC by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
During the evaluation, Shinde gave the civic administration instructions to make sure that any potholes that have already developed on Mumbai’s roads as a consequence of heavy rain are fixed right away and that commuters are not inconvenienced by the smooth flow of traffic.

In a statement to the media, Shinde said, “We have developed a scheme to eliminate potholes in Mumbai within the next two years. All of the roads in Mumbai will be concreted within the next two years. To allow rainwater to drain off the road, soak pits will be built along the median and sides of the streets”.
“It has been agreed to use rapid-setting concrete and cutting-edge eco-polymer processes to patch potholes. Ishwar Chahal, the head of the BMC, promised me that this would prevent potholes from causing problems for Ganpati mandals”, he added.
