Shahaji Raje Bhosle Complex Swimming Pools Set to Reopen on September 5 After Repairs

The Shahaji Raje Bhosle Complex is going to open again after repairs and maintenance.

Due to numerous repairs, one of the Swimming Pools was closed starting on July 26, while the other one was closed on August 8. The swimming pools were closed as they underwent several maintenance and repair projects. The repairs are very close to completion.

The Andheri Sports Complex’s swimming pools will be accessible to its residents starting September 5, 2023, after repairs are finished.

Within the Shahaji Raje Bhosle Sports Complex in Andheri, two Olympic-size swimming pools operated by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation are set to reopen on September 5 after being closed since July 26 and August 8, respectively.

The Shahaji Raje Bhosale sports complex was built by BMC in 1988 as a community service, and several sports and cultural activity centres were made possible in Andheri. The 1988 construction of the sports complex included the addition of a sports training facility, swimming pools, and open space.

It provides access to badminton, the game of table tennis, gymnastics, cardio gymnastics, free women’s karate training sessions, athletics, skating, aerobics, the practise of yoga, tennis, exercising, and more for its people. Additionally, they arrange summer camps as well as training sessions.

There are various coaching facilities, swimming pools, and rooms for indoor sports. Many swimmers competing at the state, national, and international levels also undergo training in these two swimming pools.

The Olympic-standard pool has served as the location for numerous state, national, and international swimmers to help in their training. Many state, national, and international standard swimmers have competed in the Olympic standard pool.

According to Sunil Godse, special task officer, “Brihanmumbai Sports and Fine Arts Foundation, repair and maintenance of the water purification system, balance tank, and some other miscellaneous engineering works are in the final stages and will once again be available to members”.

The repair work is in the final stage and will soon be open again for the citizens of Mumbai as of September 5th, which is not too far away.

The BMC now operates six swimming pools in Mumbai. The BMC is responsible for maintaining the swimming pools at Dadar, Kandivali, Dahisar, and Chembur, among others.

“In contrast, a single organisation has been awarded management of the swimming pools at both the Priyadarshini Sports Complex in Mulund and the Shahaji Raje Bhosale Sports Complex in Andheri. Out of the seven total, four will be in the western suburbs, two in the city, and one in the eastern suburbs. Among them, the swimming pools in the Malad (West) neighbourhood near Chacha Nehru Maidan and the Kandarpada neighbourhood of Dahisar (West) have been officially opened”, according to a report.
