The Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) issued an alert on Saturday afternoon advising individuals to take care when swimming in the sea in consideration of recent cases of Jellyfish stings at Juhu Beach in Mumbai.

At Mumbai’s Juhu Beach, six people, including three children, were stung by what seemed to be jellyfish. According to city officials and hospital staff, they were sent to the Cooper Hospital of Vile Parle and released after medical care.

At least six individuals, three of whom are children around the ages of six to 10 years were stung at the typically busy beach lately. Jellyfish stings have been a common occurrence in Mumbai’s Juhu beach.

Those six people, including three children, were all immediately sent to the nearby hospital. According to the authorities, those harmed got stung while out for a walk on the shore just around midnight.

Additionally, warning signs were placed at several areas to alert people from the sea creature, according to a source.

Senior authorities from the area as well as representatives of the fisheries department went to the shore in the suburbs of the west as multiple events were previously claimed.

Fisheries department representatives reported that, “Throughout August to October, stingrays and even jellyfish wash up on the shore in considerable quantities.”

Instructions and advice from civic body

The advice from local authorities recommends people to avoid swimming naked and to wear gum boots on the sand. The children were informed not to swim in the ocean.

Salted water should be used right away for washing the wounded region, according to experts. They were instructed to follow this even before seeing a doctor.

Beach lifeguards undergo training to deal with these circumstances and are available to offer assistance. Ambulances are stationed in several locations, according to the notice as well. The skin can be cut by the stingrays’ razor-sharp edges, and a jellyfish sting can send a shockwave through the body.

According to the warning, jellyfish sting victims may also experience burning, itching, as well as swelling.
