MahaRERA: QR Codes mandatory in Project Advertisement from 1st August

The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) mandated on Monday that starting on August 1 all marketing and social Media posts must include QR codes for all registered housing developments as well as their registration numbers.

In March, the authorities began providing QR codes for projects that had been registered. A property buyer can scan the QR code to obtain important details about a project, including the start and end dates, information on any complaints filed, and essential approvals. The QR code also includes information about project renewal and adjustments to authorised plans. With MahaRERA, about 40,000 projects have been registered.

Instead of calling the builder or even going to the developer’s website, homebuyers would be able to scan the QR codes of any housing project and receive immediate information, according to a RERA official. All ads for housing projects must prominently show these QR codes beginning August 1 in addition to the MahaRERA phone number and website, an official stated.

According to a MahaRERA circular, all project-related advertisements across a variety of media platforms, including newspapers, electronic media, and social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and WhatsApp, must prominently display the QR code.

With this improved accessibility, customers will be better equipped to choose their real estate investments.

According to MahaRERA officials, developers are mandated by the RERA Act to update project information on their websites every three to six months. Form 5, a crucial document outlining the project’s current status, overall cost, and other crucial information, must always be posted on the project website. Users may now easily access the information from the comfort of their homes, thanks to the inclusion of QR codes, which simplifies the procedure for them.

The use of QR codes will benefit investors and homeowners because many developers did not previously show the registration number and MahaRERA’s website address.

Citizens had trouble accessing the information posted on the website. According to Ramesh Prabhu, head of the Maharashtra Society Welfare Association, the QR code will enable the public to do more in-depth searches.

Name of the project, name of the developer, anticipated completion date, date of registration, the existence of complaints regarding the project, various approvals of the project, the existence of changes to the approved project plan following the project’s start, and the existence of a renewal of the project’s registration in this QR.
