5 Bidders for 131 crores track work for  Mumbai Metro Line 4

Mumbai’s dream of having a world-class Metro rail system is gradually becoming a reality.

In the latest development, five firms have submitted their bids to supply and install ballastless tracks for Mumbai Metro Line 4 and Line-4A.

This ambitious project aims to connect Wadala – Kasarvadavali – Gaimukh through 34 elevated stations, spanning a distance of 32.32 km.

The upcoming installation of tracks between Mulund Fire Station and Gaimukh, which is approximately 15.77 km long, falls under the CA-161 package of the contract.

However, the tender notice for the southern section of Line-4, connecting Wadala and Mulund Fire Station, is still pending.

This new addition to Mumbai’s metro rail system promises to make commutes faster and more efficient, bringing the city closer together.

With the gradual progress being made in the Line-4 project, the future of Mumbai’s transportation infrastructure looks brighter than ever before.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) invited bids for this contract in January 2023, with an estimated value of Rs. 131.11 crores and a 2-year installation deadline.

The technical bids were opened on Friday, and the following firms have submitted bids:

  1. Apurvakriti Infrastructure Pvt Ltd.
  2. ITD Cementation India Ltd.
  3. Paras Railtech Pvt. Ltd.
  4. Rahee Infratech Ltd.
  5. Texmaco Rail and Engineering Ltd.

The work to be done involves designing, building, manufacturing, supplying, installing, testing, and starting up ballastless trackwork on the mainline from Mulund Fire Station to Gaimukh, as well as the siding tracks at Gaimukh Station.

The bids will be evaluated for their technical aspects, which could take several months.

The lowest bidder, who is most likely to be the track-work contractor, will be determined after the technically qualified bidders’ financial bids are opened.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is working hard to award contracts for Line-4’s system and has made significant strides in this regard.

Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (JSPL) was chosen as the lowest bidder in February to provide 9800 MT of head-hardened rails.
