Should We Stay on Las Vegas Strip

Planning a trip to Las Vegas but not sure if you should stay on Las Vegas Strip? This decision could be based on if you are traveling for work, on a family vacation with or without kids, party celebrations, and the fun activities you would like to partake in along with budget spending if need to stay within budget.

We all know or heard the saying of Las Vegas is the city that never sleeps, and this is true, especially on the Las Vegas Strip.

I have had the pleasure of visiting Las Vegas three times now, one trip was passing through for work, the 10th wedding anniversary trip, and a family vacation with my small children at the time.

There are some differences in staying on or off the Las Vegas Strip. In this article, I will talk about the different benefits of staying on the strip or off the strip to help you with your decision on planning your Las Vegas trip.

The strip has three sections, north, south, and downtown.

The Benefits of Staying on the Las Vegas Strip

The main benefits of staying on the strip are the ease of access to casinos, clubs, Las Vegas shows, shopping, and walking. When making your decision to stay on the strip, keep in mind what kind of activities you would like to do and what kind of trip. Some hotels offer shows for adults and children, casinos, chapels, and easy access to planning a detailed tour of the city.

For instance, the ” Mandalay Bay Las Vegas Casino” is a very well-known hotspot on the strip that has a lot of positive tourist reviews revolving around the ease of activities for family fun, concerts, dining, shows, beach, and casino. (No, the mass shooting that happened, did not detour tourists from Mandalay Bay) Read more about the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino.

You can plan your trip based on originality. As the north strip has original resorts that were built back in the 1950s to 1960s along with new developments.

If you are traveling for business you might like to visit the biggest above-ground convention center that is located on the north strip.

The north strip is where you will find SAHARA, Wynn Las Vegas, Las Vegas Country Club, along with lots more.

Even though the north strip may not be iconic, this end of the strip has lots of awesome hotels and attractions for visitors. It is located between the south and downtown of the strip where you will find Fremont Street.

Reasons you might like the north strip:
It is a little less busy than the south end.
The Las Vegas Convention center is within walking distance if you choose to walk.
The newest resort is located here.
The most thrilling roller coaster rides are on the north strip.

Attractions that are near the North Strip:
Adventuredome Theme Park
Las Vegas Country Club
The Strat thrill rides and SkyPod
Fashion Show Mall
Vegas Indoor Skydiving
Broad Acres Flea Market

Best Restaurants on Noth Strip:
Peppermill Las Vegas
Edge Steakhouse-inside the Westgate
Luke’s Lobster
Top of the World-inside the Stratosphere
Lakeside-inside the Wynn

The South Strip

Showy is the name of the game in Vegas. The more flashy, gaudy, and luxurious the better. The sound end of the Vegas Strip has lots of hotel options, that include some of the most iconic hotels in Vegas: New York-New York, Paris, the Bellagio, the Mirage, MGM, Aria, Cosmo, and many more. There is so much that you can do on this end of the Strip that you will need several days to explore what it has to offer.

The bright lights of the south Strip make it an exciting place to explore, take pictures, and find the best drinks and shows. It is easy to get from one hotel to the next here. Just keep walking along the sidewalk or use the monorail to travel longer distances without having to fight foot or traffic.

Why I love the South Strip:
The South Strip is the end where I stayed to celebrate my 10th Wedding Anniversary. There were so many things to see and do after we left for the week’s celebration, we still did not see everything. On the south end, you will be close to many other hotels, iconic city landscapes, and plenty of restaurants.

Attractions that are near the south Strip:
The Mirage Volcano
Italian experience in the Grand Canal Shoppes and canal
Bellagio fountains and conservatory
High Roller Ferris wheel
Mandalay Bay shark reef and pool complex

Best Restaurants on the South Strip:
Yardbird Southern Table and Bar-inside the Venetial hotel
House of Blues-inside Mandalay Bay

Off the Strip-inside the Linq hotel
Shack Shack
Haiti Kitchen-The Cosmopolitan

Downtown Las Vegas

A trip to Las Vegas is not complete without checking out downtown even though the entire strip feels like the epic center of Las Vegas. There is an actual downtown area and it is where you will find the one-of-a-kind Fremont Street experience. It is really over the top, just as you would expect in Vegas.

Under the dome of an immersive LED ceiling that puts our 600,000 watts of concert-worthy sound, you can explore casinos, shops, and living street art, and the world’s largest video screen is here. This is where you will find live music every evening.

If this is more your style, make sure to stay at a hotel right here in downtown Las Vegas to stay as close to the busy hub of fun as possible. As this is the norm in Vegas, you will likely forget to go anywhere else if you stay at a downtown Las Vegas hotel since there are a myriad of activities and places to eat and sometimes cheaper prices than the rest of the strip.

Why you would love Downtown Las Vegas
Tons of shopping, pools, casinos, and more
Dazzling lights and sounds to keep you going all night long
Loose slots and cheap drinks
Live entertainment every night

Attractions near downtown Las Vegas:
Two zip line attractions that fly through Fremont Street
Neon Museum that houses all the original Las Vegas neon signs
Viva Vision Light show under Promenade
Largest sportsbook screen in the world
Million-dollar photo booth
The Mob Museum

Where to eat in Downtown Las Vegas
Old Soul-limited hours
