7 Beautiful Fiji Islands You Will Love Visiting

One of the first things you learn about Fiji is that it is close to impossible to fully explore it. This is because it is made out of over 300 islands plus 500 islets that are all covering 194,000 square kilometers, including rugged volcanic peaks, spectacular coral reefs, and practically everything in between.

So, how do you choose?

Obviously, you will need to conduct a very good research. But you will not be able to go wrong with any of the beautiful options presented below.

Monuriki

Numerous travelers will tell you that the Mamanucas are the most beautiful Fijian islands. It is very hard to argue with that and the best one is definitely Monuriki.

This island features stunning volcanic peaks and tropical foliage. As expected, there are also majestic Beaches to explore. And there is a kaleidoscopic reef surrounding the beaches.

To make matters even more interesting. Most of Monuriki is raw and uninhabited. This made it the perfect setting for the 2001 “Cast Away” movie with Tom Hanks.

Taveuni

It is impossible to make a list of the most beautiful Fijian islands and not mention the third largest one, Taveuni. This island gives access to countless exploration, craggy volcanic base, and a pretty dense rainforest.

At the same time, the reason why Taveuni is oftentimes seen as Paradise In Fiji is that there are numerous luxury resorts on the island that offer anything you might imagine. This allows you to easily explore everything that the island has, including coves, craters, waterfalls, and some pretty incredible lagoons.

Caqalai

Caqalai is a small island and we have to see it as a hidden treasure. Tourists often overlook it simply because of the size. This would be a mistake because the islet here gives you access to some tremendous opportunities for stellar photographs. During low tide, you can go beyond the shores and even explore some small lagoons and sandbanks.

Lakeba

Lau Islands is where most travelers stop exploring. These islands cover a larger part of the eastern border of Fiji. Many of the islets are practically untouched.

When reaching this remote area of Fiji, there are just 2 guesthouses you can stay at. Lakeba is actually the name of one of them. What remains is a 54 square kilometers area that houses 2,000 locals. Some coastal villages are scattered around the area and the reason why we say all these things is that it shows that Lakeba is wilder. Its beauty is rugged and offers authenticity.

Waya

Waya is another beautiful, hilly, and rugged island, one that is blanketed in untamed, thick forest. If you are a hiker, this is definitely a destination to consider because Wava has some dramatic peaks. These spread across the ocean while the steep cliff sides create a spectacular backdrop for unique photographs. When you go to sea level, you see some remarkable beaches and you will surely want to explore the coral reefs because they have a wonderful marine life.

Qamea

Qamea is another small island that you might miss, mainly because it is close to Taveuni and most people just go to Taveuni. The reason why we mention it is that there are numerous wonderful coves, little inlets, and bays that are lined with some simply divine beaches, all while being walled by craggy, towering rock faces.

If you want to visit, do it between November and December. This is because lairo happens. This is a natural phenomenon when simply thousands of beautiful land carbs are migrating towards the sea.

Nacula

If you love beaches, Nacula is just heaven. This is an island included in the larger Yasawa Chain, the home to one of Fiji’s most beautiful beaches, Long Beach. This is listed last because it is simply picture-perfect, with wonderful swimming and snorkeling opportunities for any possible desire. Then, there are also forests and hills, with countless Fijian villages and an eco-sensitive resort.
