The Best Backdrops for an Unforgettable Engagement

The moment that you get engaged is meant to be magical and unforgettable. From the setting to the words used, this is an event that will be with you forever and will be part of the story you tell your family and friends. These are the reasons why it has to be totally special and suit you both as a couple.

In recent years, there has been everything from elaborate proposals to quirky engagements, each memorable in their own way. But what type of engagement would you love?

If you’re thinking of popping the question, here are some inspired ideas to help you come up with something perfect for you both.

Hit the beach

With the waves lapping the shore and sand between your toes, beaches make for a beautiful location for a proposal. From secluded, sun-dappled beaches in Spain to wind-swept coastal spots right here in the UK, there are plenty of types and locations to choose from. If there’s one beach that has meaning, you might decide to head there.

You can also choose whether you want to make this a public proposal or you might want to head somewhere less crowded to make it just about the two of you. For maximum romance, ask the question as the sun sets to create a picture-perfect moment for you both.

Take in the views

From the London Eye to the top of the Eiffel Tower, there are many iconic city locations that allow you to take in the world below. These skyline-scaling attractions, overlooking some of the most iconic sites in the world, make for a romantic location for a marriage proposal. There’s nothing quite like looking out at Big Ben or the Arc de Triomphe as your beloved drops to one knee and reveals your dream engagement ring.

There are many locations that will make you feel on top of the world as you get engaged. You might have been on a city break to Edinburgh in the past and want to climb Arthur’s Seat one more time or perhaps you’d love to recapture your favourite movie moments and ask the question at the top of the Empire State Building.

Surrounded in nature

If you’re a couple that prefers a walk in the park to a city tour, head to the hills for your big moment. If hiking is your thing, choose your favourite route and propose at the summit, or maybe a trip to some romantic gardens will seal the deal. If you want to add a sense of fun, you could try punting in Oxford before asking the question or climb to the top of a tower in a Welsh castle to create an epic backdrop.

What type of proposal are you dreaming up?
