Mixed Touring and Fishing Holidays in Scotland

Mixed Touring and Fishing Holidays in Scotland

If Scotland is on your bucket list and you’ve dreamt of those dreamy landscapes, stunning beaches, woodland walks, castles, whisky distilleries and bending your fly rod into a salmon on one of our rivers. Ask yourself this question, how do you find the most memorable locations in Scotland, the best accommodation (not necessarily the most expensive), the best Fishing and touring and mix it all together for the perfect blend to create an unforgettable vacation in Scotland?

Scotland the Best

Your time is precious, and you need to know that whoever you entrust to create this fishing and touring holiday in Scotland, delivers the best fit for your individual requirements and creates the perfect vacation experience.

When we created our Hidden Gems Fishing and touring holidays in Scotland, this was exactly what we aimed to deliver. Alba is a small specialist company delivering a specialist service and  2019 will be our 15th year in business. The mixed fishing and touring trips have been hugely popular and grown steadily to become almost the pinnacle of what we deliver.

Last year, we had two couples come on, what was for them a “Bucket List” experience. A once in a lifetime holiday in Scotland. Both trips were 10 days and tailored to individual needs. Both couples have rebooked for 2019! Stewart Collingswood, founder, and MD said “..this gives me great satisfaction that we are delivering something memorable and truly special. Our hard work and attention to detail are finally being recognised and rewarded.”

Alba Game Fishing is now a Tour Operator and 80% of the work is in the design and planning of the vacation. By drawing on the combined knowledge of our team, we have collectively over 100 years of experience to help you.

Once we agree an itinerary and a deposit is paid, our team get to work. The first task is to secure the accommodation. Scotland can get very busy and the best hotels are sold out quickly. At the time of writing this blog article (Nov 2018), we have already booked and paid for over 85 nights of accommodation throughout Scotland in 2019.

In addition, included in your trip is a concierge service on the lead up to your arrival in Scotland. We can assist with any aspect of your visit. Recommend good restaurants, shops, attractions and places to visit. Book theatre and sporting events…the answer is yes, what’s the question.

With regards to the fishing, the species to target, very much depends on what time of year you choose to visit.

The Fishing Calendar in Scotland

April and May is prime time for trophy river trout and spring salmon, June is prime for sea trout and Highland trout. July an August are excellent for surface action and fly fishing for pike and Saltwater trips. In August the summer grilse runs of salmon are picking up and the Highland rivers and the Spey are in full flow. September is amonth when almost everything is on song, the autumn runs of salmon come in, the pike fishing starts to deliver some real trophy fish and saltwater fishing is excellent. In October salmon fishing is at its best and the grayling in the river become active.
