Jolingkong to Kuti: A Remarkable experince

The journey towards Kuti, particularly the fifth day of the expedition from Jolingkong to Kuti, is truly remarkable and filled with unique experiences. As you traverse this picturesque route, you’ll encounter awe-inspiring mountains, meandering streams flowing alongside the path, invigorating fresh air, and a profoundly spiritual ambiance that resonates with devotees chanting the name of Lord Mahadev.

Adi Kailash Dharchula-Adi Kailash-

The Adi Kailash Dharchula-Adi Kailash-Darchula journey can typically be completed within ten days. You’ll cover an average distance of 18 kilometers per day, but you have the flexibility to adjust your journey’s duration according to your preferences by either increasing or decreasing your daily walking distance. If your journey includes photography, it’s advisable to allocate some additional days, as both Om Mountain and Adi Kailash are often shrouded in clouds, offering unique photographic opportunities.

Gunji

The path followed by pilgrims to Kailash Mansarovar and Adi Kailash Yatris remains the same until Gunji. From Gunji, one route leads to Adi Kailash via Nabi, Kuti, and Jolingkong, while the second route heads towards the Lipulekh Pass via Kala Pani (the origin of the Kali River) and Nabhidhang (at an elevation of 3987 meters), which serves as the entry point to Tibet for Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims. Along this route, you can catch a glimpse of Om Mountain from Nabhidhang.

Adi Kailash

Adi Kailash, also known as Chhota Kailash, is a sacred pilgrimage site in India, sharing the revered status of Kailash Mansarovar. It’s believed to be the place where Lord Shiva camped during his marriage procession to Goddess Parvati. Situated near the Tibet border in Uttarakhand, Adi Kailash stands at an elevation of 6191 meters and resembles the Kailash peak.

The Adi Kailash Yatra, covering a distance of 105 kilometers on foot, is considered challenging and is reminiscent of the Kailash Mansarovar journey. It offers breathtaking natural beauty and immense peace, attracting sages, monks, and pilgrims since ancient times.

The history of Adi Kailash is intertwined with the Himalayas, which are regarded as Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati’s abode. Om Parvat, one of the peaks, bears a naturally inscribed Om symbol, making it a significant spiritual landmark.

The pilgrimage typically commences from Gunji, where pilgrims can witness Om Mountain. Afterward, they proceed to Adi Kailash, encountering many majestic Himalayan peaks along the way.

How to Reach:

The journey’s starting point is Dharchula, which is well-connected by motor roads to major cities. The nearest railway station is Kathgodam, and the closest airport is Pantnagar.

The trip from Dharchula to Najyang can be accomplished by sharing a taxi or booking a taxi service through Dobat, Elagad, Tawaghat, Tintola, Gasku, Pangla, Mangti, and Ghattiyabagad. The trek commences from Najyang, and if desired, you can opt for the assistance of horses based on your convenience.

To reach Adi Kailash and Parvati Sarovar, you’ll travel via Jolingkang, passing through Lamari, Budi, Chhiyalekh, Garbyang, Napalchu, Gunji, Nabi, Nampa, and Kuti, with a final trek of a few kilometers.

Throughout this journey to Adi Kailash, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of several renowned Himalayan peaks, including Om Mountain, Pandava Mountain, Brahma Mountain, Nag Mountain, and Parvati Mukut, among others in Jolingkong area.

Permits and Support:

To obtain the necessary innerline permit, you can visit the SDM office in Dharchula after completing the required government formalities.

Experienced ponies, porters, and local guides are readily available in Dharchula to assist you on your journey.

In these remote areas, you’ll find guest houses managed by the Kumaon Mandal Corporation and homestays operated by local residents, offering accommodation options.

It’s essential to minimize the use of plastic materials in the Vyas Valley (Adi Kailash area) and actively contribute to maintaining environmental balance. Jai Uttarakhand
