Beauty of Sanghyang Heuleut

Hello, welcome back to my blog, tonight I'm gonna write my journey in 2018. When I travel with my friends to a beautiful place in West Bandung Regency, Indonesia. It is a small lake with beautiful scenery, scientists said that it was part of a prehistoric lake, yeah Bandung city was a large lake 105.000 years ago and began to dry since 16.000 years ago.

I went there during the weekend in July or August( I didn't remember exactly LOL). In that morning I was heating my motorcycle engine and prepared anything to go to Sanghyang Heleut, and then go to the meeting point where my friends waiting. The road is still quiet so the journey is quite smooth and fast to the meeting point. After all group members came, we start our journey from Bandung city by motorcycles.

The distance we traveled to Sanghyang Heuleut was around 53 km. The weather was quite hot and the traffic was heavy so it made me hard to follow the group. When we arrived at Padalarang the road was in a severe traffic jam and reached Citatah. The traffic jam also reached the mining area, so many trucks with large marble load queued on the road, even I saw a flatbed truck brought 10-20 ton marble without any safety, it was so thrilling.

Not long after we got out of the traffic zone, and arrived at the Saguling hydropower T-junction. From there we had to drive another 5 km to the Parking Lot near the electrical substation. The journey to the parking lot is not too tiring even up and down and tortuous, because it is presented with a beautiful view of the forest on our left and right sides. Then after driving down the road, we arrived at a T-junction, there were directions to Sanghyang Heuleut.

Hydropower Area

We followed that direction which leads to the parking lot. When we arrived, we rested and had lunch. To reach Sanghyang Heuleut we need to walk because our vehicle can't get past it. So we need to pay a tour guide for Rp20000 ($1,46) per person.

Then the guide drove us there, before entering the Sanghyang Heuleut area, we had to pass 2 large yellow pipes belonging to a hydropower plant that I had never seen before, the ground level was tilted downwards, so we had to be careful.

At the edge of the pipeline, there is a ladder to get out of the area, for those who fear the height of the stairs is quite scary. Out of the pipe, we went down the path through the plantation, on the path, there is also a banana garden which is quite beautiful to be photographed.

After we walk for a little longer we found an empty kiosk for a short rest. After that we continued the journey until we found a river with the big stones, we also had to cross from stone to stone. Not far from the river there was a shop, so we can rest again after a long time walk even though down. After a few minutes of rest, we continued our journey.

This time the road was quite flat, but the terrain was quite difficult. We started along the forest and followed the direction of the river, the closer to Sanghyang Heuleut the road was more rough, muddy, and rocky, many stairs and bridges made of fallen trees.

Finally, after passing through the rocky road we arrived at a beautiful lake, the water was clean and green and surrounded by rocks that were no less beautiful, making us tempted to take pictures. There were many people there but it wasn't too crowded either, they swam and jumped off cliffs to feel the freshwater in Sanghyang Heuleut.

We were relieved of our fatigue by swimming, not a few of my friends who jumped off the cliff to spur adrenaline. For those who can't swim, you can rent a life vest for Rp 10000($0,73). The arrangement of rocks surrounding the lake area along with a small waterfall at the end I did not miss to be photographed, there was also a friend who drew the beauty of the atmosphere at Sanghyang Heuleut.

Keep in mind when I was there there was an area surrounded by a yellow line because there were often some falling stones in that area, even one of our friends was almost hit by a big falling stone. It is expected that you who want to visit, please obey the rules and keep it clean.

After the day was getting late we decided to go home and do not forget to take pictures together. During the trip back to the parking lot, we had to climb and had to pass through the large pipe again. Finally, we decided to rest for a while in the big pipe area, I lay down while stretching my legs.

Yes, the trip this time really felt amazing, when it was hot we even stuck in traffic on the road after that we also had to walk for 1 and a half hours to Sanghyang Heuleut, but the fatigue was all paid off by the amazing view given by nature.
