Can Someone Else Pay for My Car or Van Hire?

In a world where convenience and flexibility are king, car rentals have become an integral part of travel. Yet, the logistics of payment can sometimes be a bit complicated, especially when it’s not your wallet in play.

Typically most car rental suppliers will only accept a debit or credit card in the driver’s name – thankfully though at Indigo we have brokered a deal where this is no longer the case, and can now offer third party payments at a number of locations across the UK.

Curious on how exactly this works? We’ve got you covered with our comprehensive FAQ guide below.

Can I use someone else’s card to pay for my rental?

The short answer is yes – but it does involve some minor extra steps. The rental cost would be fully prepaid when making the booking, so you don’t actually need the card owners physical card at all. The rental would also need to include the full insurance cover – so there is no excess / deposit to hold on arrival at all either. This arrangement ensures that everything is seamlessly arranged and paid for in advance, with nothing at all paid when collecting.

Can a business or organization pay for an employee?

Yes! It doesn’t matter who it is that actually pays for the rental, whether it’s a family member, a friend helping you out or a company financing a business trip – whatever the reason we have an option for you! You will of course receive a full invoice / receipt at the end of the Hire also.

What documentation is required?

Nothing out of the ordinary – if flying into one of the Airport locations you would need your licence, passport and some proof of flights, and if collecting from one of our downtown branches you would simply need your licence and two proofs of your current address. You do not need any identification for the person paying for the rental too.

Is the offer available for vans as well?

Yes of course, we offer vans ranging from small vans like the Citroen Berlingo up to Luton box vans with tail lifts. There’s also a wide variety of cars available too, from small economy cars to large SUVS and even 9-seater minivans. Whatever your need – we’ve got you covered!

Where can I collect from?

As of the time of this writing, we’ve established numerous branches in many of the major airports and cities, and our reach continues to expand. Here’s a list of the current locations where our services are available:

How do I book with a third party payment?

Given that it’s a specialized option, it’s not available for direct booking on our website. Instead, you can just get in touch with us directly, either via phone or email. We’d be more than happy to provide you with a comprehensive quote and address any other queries you may have as well of course.
