The 32nd liffe (Ljubljana International Film Festival) was taking place in Ljubljana in the period from 10 to 21 November 2021. Before we were regular visitors to the festival, but the number of visits to cinemas and thus of this festival decreased with the Internet. This year, in the light of COVIID-19, we decided to watch another film before lockdown.

With Tedej and Matjaž we talked during the day and made an appointment for the film Hero in the Komuna cinema at 6:10 p.m. We meet half an hour earlier and had a drink while talking about where we will be able to travel in the coming months. Of course, PCT and mask are mandatory. The ticket was € 6. Every other seat was available in the hall and there was no seating order. We sat in the 6th row near the middle.

I didn’t know what to expect from an Iranian film. The film began slowly, but we are soon thrown into the story. A man at the bottom sees a light at the end of the tunnel. However, due to his compassion, misfortune, naivety, and entire social structure, he ends up at the starting point after many complications, where he also helped. At this point, not being able to get out of the bottom, reminds me of the Korean Movie Parasite. Otherwise, you sympathize throughout the film with the main character, but you also know how it will end.

In the end, we go for another drink to the stalls at Konjski rep. There’s a little debate about the film. We’re all just glad we got together, watched a movie. Finally, a few words about the current COVID situation and it’s time to head home.
