Last day on Gozo

Just when you are having the most fun your vacation comes to an end. It always seems to end too soon but rerunning home is also fun.

Cats at Villa Rundle Gardens and breakfast

The next morning after the boat tour we went to Villa Rundle Garden where our friend feeds local homeless cats every morning. It was great to see the cats and I appreciate the effort our friend makes for these cats. After watching this morning ritual, we headed to breakfast at Karamelli brunch café.

it-Tempji tal-Ġgantija

On our final whole day on Gozo we decided to visit it-Tempji tal-Ġgantija or the Ggantija Temple. The temple complex is a unique pre-historic monument, situated at the center of an extraordinary archaeological landscape, the Xaghra plateau. The oldest part of this complex dates to 3600 BC, thus making it one of the earliest free-standing manmade structures in the world. It holds a UNESCO World Heritage status. The temple was impressive and made you wonder how people were able to build such an impressive structure so long ago. After exploring the temple, we had lunch at a café in the nearby village of Xaghra called 73 In the Square. We opted for the traditional local tuna ftira sandwich, which was delicious.

Final dinner and goodbye to Malta

On our last night, we had dinner at one80 Kitchen overlooking the marina. I opted for three small dishes: cured fresh fish, burratina and a fish slider. Hubby had a fresh fish tartar to start followed by linguine vongole. The food was good and the scenery was beautiful. After dinner, we headed back to our digs to prepare for our departure the next day. The following morning it was time to get packed after breakfast and head to the ferry that took us back to Malta Island. We had pre-booked a cab that was waiting for us at the Cirkewwa terminal and took us to the airport.

This brings our Malta excursion to an end. We enjoyed the island and everything it had to offer. I warmly recommend a trip to Malta if you ever get the chance. Stay tuned for more of our travels.
