Change of scenery – Tallinn

As we are basically working through summer and only taking a few weeks of vacation in mid-August I felt a change of scenery was needed. Thus, I booked an Airbnb in Tallinn for four nights and we spent a nice working vacation in our neighboring country.

Perfect Airbnb in Kalamaja

We took the ferry from Helsinki on Sunday afternoon and arrived in Tallinn early in the evening. We grabbed a taxi to our Airbnb located in the Kalamaja neighborhood. The Apartment proved perfect for our needs. The location was also great with a supermarket, tram stop, restaurants, and bars right at the doorstep. I was really happy with my pick. After we got our bags up to the apartment and checked the amenities we headed to the supermarket for some provisions. Back at the apartment we unpacked and freshened up before heading out to find something to eat. The apartment was right next door to the Telliskivi area and the Depoo food street, so we headed there to explore our options. After a while, we decided to eat at Peatus – a bar/restaurant housed in two old train cars. Hubby picked a burger and I opted for dirty fries. The food was tasty and the atmosphere was fun. After dinner, we relaxed at our home away from home for the rest of the evening.

Old town

Monday morning started with breakfast at our Airbnb and some work. Then we decided to walk to the old Town and stroll around. Even though we have explored the old town several times we found a new outlook point. I always get excited when I find something new in a familiar place. After exploring the old town for an hour or so we walked back to Kalamaja. We stopped at Fika – Leib ja Kohv in Telliskivi for a spot of lunch and then returned to the apartment for some work.
