I had pre-booked a few activities in San Antonio. On Friday evening we joined a ghost Tour and on Saturday we took a brewery tour.

Lunch at the Pearl

After exploring the King Willian district we took the car and drove to the Pearl. We explored the area for a while and then ended up at the Boiler House for lunch. I had the Wedge Salad with a glass of Cava and hubby had the Blackened Salmon Caeser Salad with a Shiner bock beer. I’m not a huge beer drinker but I did have several glasses of Shiner bock during our trip to Texas, it is a really nice beer. The Pearl was a really interesting area to explore and there were some nice shops, cafes, and restaurants so I do recommend a visit if in San Antonio.

Ghost tour

I had booked a ghost tour for us for Friday night. The meeting point was very close to our hotel. After checking out the happy hour at the hotel and bundling up as it was a cold night we headed out for a spooky experience. I believe in some kind of supernatural phenomena, but hubby does not. Thus, he indulged me when going along on this tour. We got to test EMF meters and dowsing rods, which was fun. The meters did react to things but as there are plenty of man-made electromagnetic fields in a city so I wasn’t that impressed. However, the dowsing rods are a different story, I found it very intriguing how they worked. The tour was a fun way to spend an evening and we got to hear many interesting stories.

Last day and brewery tour

Saturday was our last day in San Antonio. We started the day with breakfast at La Panaderia. They serve beautiful, filled croissants for breakfast and the pastries also looked superb. We both had a filled croissant, some coffee, and juice and were super satisfied when we walked out. After breakfast, we strolled around the same area where we had the ghost tour the night before. We also visited the San Fernando Cathedral and the Spanish Governor’s Palace. Then it was time to get the car and head to Ranger Creek Brewing & Distilling for our brewery tour. The tour included a free beer and a whiskey tasting. The tour was interesting even though we have toured breweries and distilleries before so nothing new really. The products were tasty and they had a nice variety of both beer and whiskey. We hung around for a while after the tour and tried their beer flight.

Dinner at Ida Claire

For our last night in San Antonio, I had booked a table for dinner at Ida Claire. I was thrilled to try out their Southern-inspired food. Apparently, I was too thrilled to even take any pictures. We shared a seafood dip to start and it was to die for. However, there was a snag with our order and the waiter tried to deliver the mains before we had gotten the starter. This was sorted out and we eventually got to enjoy the starter and they refired the mains later. For mains, I picked the catfish Po’boy and hubby opted for fried chicken. The mains were tasty but there was far too much food.
