10 Things To Do In Liverpool City, England – Places To Visit

Before leaving for Liverpool, many people asked me what I was going to do there. They repeated, “there’s nothing to see, it’s grey and it almost always rains”. Instead, I found the city decidedly cheerful just like its inhabitants, called Scousers because of the very strong accent. Surprisingly lively, and they are always ready to party.

When you roam around the city of Liverpool, you can find a verity of things to do there. For instance, the Beatles factor, and it couldn’t be otherwise, has a big influence on the city’s tourism, but limiting it only to the Fab Four. It could possibly be a serious mistake!

Therefore, we have prepared for you 10 places to visit and things to do there in Liverpool, England. I can assure you. it would change your perspective of the city. Let’s began with the ,,list of the best places to visit in Liverpool:

1. Royal Albert Dock:

Royal Albert Dock was an old abandoned port. Those warehouses are one of the most infamous places in England. Later on, the Albert Dock has undergone some redevelopment with museums, clubs, restaurants, and many more.

UNESCO World Heritage Site declared the port area of the city as one of the landmarks of tourists. Here are some of the most important museums such as the Tate, the Maritime Museum, and the Beatles Story.

Other things to do in Royal Albert Dock:

Visit Liverpool Mountain – (AKA: Ugo Rondinone seven magic mountains): it is a man-made mountain that inspired by naturally occurring Hoodoos. You may also call it an earth pyramid that is created by a stack of thin spired rocks. It is about a 10-meter high sculpture with a variety of colors that defy gravity.

– Spires Or Pyramids Of Rock:

(spires or pyramids of rock) and the art of meditative rock balancing, this 10-meter high sculpture stands within Mermaid Courtyard, outside Tate Liverpool on the Royal Albert Dock Liverpool. It consists of colored rocks, stacked vertically which seem to defy gravity.

2. The Three Graces:

Going along the Mersey River you reach the area called Pier Head. Majestically overlooking this square are the Royal Liver Building, the Cunard Building, and the Port Of Liverpool Building. These buildings are called The Three Graces and, together with the Albert Dock, are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

3. The Beatles Statue:

Right at the foot of the Three Graces, surrounded by tourists, stands a bronze sculpture depicting the 4 components of the Beatles: John, Paul, George, and Ringo. The statue was erected only in 2015 as a gift from the Cavern Club to the city to celebrate 50 years since their last performance in the city, on December 5, 1965.

4. The Beatles Story:

Among the 10 places to visit in Liverpool could not miss a visit to the museum dedicated to those four boys who revolutionized the world of music in the distant ’60s. The museum is great and retraces the history of the Beatles from childhood to the dissolution and subsequent solo careers. Without realizing it you will find yourself humming “She loves you yeah yeah yeah” for the rest of your journey!

5. On The Beatles’ Trail:

If a visit to the Beatles museum was not enough for you, you can discover the places scattered around the city that inspired the greatest songs of the band. It starts from the birthplace to Penny Lane and Strawberry Field. The best way to visit these places is through the Magical Mistery Tour that starts from Albert Dock.

6. The Two Cathedrals:

Located at the ends of Hope Street like two duellists, Liverpool’s cathedrals are as different as you can imagine. On one side the Anglican church, the largest in the United Kingdom and one of the largest in the world, while on the other the Metropolitan Church of Christ the King, whose shape resembles a spaceship.

7. Visit Anfield Road:

If you have come to Liverpool you probably know his famous soccer team. But even if you don’t like the world of soccer, a visit to the Anfield Road stadium is on your agenda. The tour first includes a visit to the team museum where you can admire the trophies won, memorabilia and the history of the club then continues to discover every corner of the stadium from the locker rooms, press rooms until you touch the grass of the field at the foot of the KOP, the curve where every weekend the most passionate fans gather.

8. Walking Down Mathew Street:

You will find yourself walking down Mathew Street almost without realizing it but you will immediately feel that there is something magical about that street. Here there are dozens and dozens of clubs where you can listen to live music at almost every hour of the day but its celebrity is due to the fact that in these clubs the Beatles made their debut, very young, just the Beatles!

9. Dancing at the Cavern Club:

Right on Mathew Street stands the Cavern Club. Very famous for having hosted the Beatles, and other great artists, hundreds of times on their stage today this club is considered one of the most beautiful pubs in the world. Destroyed in 1973 and rebuilt 11 years later using its own bricks, it is the reference point for the nightlife of the Liverpudlians. Ideal for dancing to the rhythm of rock music, and trust that you will, both to drink good beer at reasonable prices!

10. Central Library:

Liverpool’s public library is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. The central part is extremely modern while the reading room with its concentric style will inspire even those who are not fond of reading to open a book. Ah, the entrance is free!
