The Virtues of Umrah

Hajj and Umrah are both Islamic rituals. In this article, we will describe the virtues of Umrah briefly. Allah (SWT) says: And finish the Hajj and Umrah in the service of Allah… (Al Baqarah, 196)

Prophet (saw) has expressed in a hadith: ‘The execution of Hajj and Umrah increment a man’s life expectancy and removes neediness and sins similarly as rust is expelled from the iron when put in the furnace.’ (Targhib)

For this extremely same reason Imam An-Nawawi (rah) has composed that if Allah (SWT) gifts the capacity and direction to a servant of His, it is Mustahab (favoured) to perform umrah frequently. (Sharah Manasik)

Hazrat Amar ibn Abassa (R.A.) relates: ‘Rasulullah (saw) expressed that the best of deeds is the execution of Hajj or Umrah.‘ (Musnad Ahmad)

It is likewise related in a hadith: ‘Umrah is the lesser Haj.’ (Duri Manzoor)

Abu Hurairah (R.A.) relates that Prophet (saw) expressed: ‘One Umrah is an expiation for the wrongdoings conferred among that and the past Umrah’ (Bukhari/Muslim)

Implying that the execution of one Umrah is the methods for excusing the wrongdoings and deficiencies that may have been conferred by a person between that Umrah and the past one.

Allah (SWT) has decided for his hirelings the way that Hajj must be performed at its predefined time, in the specific days of Dhil Hijjah. It isn’t feasible for one to offer the rituals of Hajj outside this time in any capacity, shape or form. Notwithstanding, Allah (SWT) has favoured His servants with the way that, besides the 5 days of Hajj, there is no restriction on the execution of Umrah consistently.

It is described from Abu Hurairah (Ra) Rasulullah (saw) expressed: ‘The performers of Hajj and Umrah are visitors of Allah (SWT), if that they look for something from Him, He will concede them, in the event that they look for pardoning He will excuse them.’ (Ibn Majah)

In another hadith it is stated: ‘The performers of Hajj and Umrah are the exceptional visitors of Allah (SWT), whatever they request they are conceded and what they appeal to God for it is allowed to them and what they spend of they are compensated for it. They are allowed a reward of 1,000,000 dirhams for 1 dirham spent.’ (Targhib)

It is for this very reason we should, in the extra time that we have, try to take our families to the blessed House of Allah (SWT) and perform Umrah, remain in the blessed region of the Haramain Sharifain and make it a methods for connecting ourselves to Allah (SWT) and his Prophet (saw), which is the establishment of our deen.

It is with these treks that one’s consideration is coordinated towards the Akhirah and kids are given the inspiration to do great deeds and endeavour to enhance their comprehension of religion.

It is however heartbreaking that these days, due to not being aware of the blessings of such activities as Umrah, we want to take our families to the ocean where there are bareness and boldness side. Allamah Mahmood Pelosi Baghdadi (rah) has related a hadith in his book: ‘upon the arrival of Qiyamah, a couple of individuals (on whom the decision of Jahannum will be show) will be in such a state, to the point that by looking at them, the others will state… ‘These were the individuals who did great feats of worship; however their friends and family ate up their deeds.’ (Roohul Ma’ani)
