Just could not let this day pass without acknowledging it and highlighting the importance of our Environment and the importance of preserving our bio-diversity.

Go outside and take a moment to ponder your environment, our environment, and what preserving Biodiversity means. What are you losing in your local environment. I have noticed a distinct decline in insects and bird life and it disturbs me greatly.

With climate change bio-diversity is under greater threat than ever, so it is good time to consider what we risk losing if we don’t take responsibility for our own actions.

The great hero of biodiversity in Australia is the flying fox or fruit bat, a much maligned creature. They are responsible for pollination and seed dispersal in our forests, without them our environment would be in even greater peril. I just thought I would use the day to celebrate the importance of our unique Flying Foxes or fruit bats.

Flying foxes are foresters keeping the eco-system together. If we are to keep the remnants of our forests healthy, we need the flying foxes. This is just a quick post I almost forgot today was International day for Bio-diversity. This seems a perfect time to reflect on the interconnectedness of life on this planet and our responsibility to it.
