Bloghouse Scottsdale – Day 3

A beautiful agave plant on Andaz Scottsdale’s property.

We were served a tasty and healthy breakfast (croissants are practically a staple in France, right?) each morning outside our conference room at the Andaz Scottsdale.

After an info-packed morning, we boarded a bus for Lunch with Experience Scottsdale at The Mission. I was really excited for an authentic Mexican lunch, including their table-side guacamole service. It was made even better because they prepared a batch without onions, yay!

Okay it did have green onions, but nothing super strong.

The avocado margarita, the Aguacate is made with cazadores añejo tequila, avocado, and pressed lime. It was super flavorful and delicious, with a creamy texture – definitely order one when you’re there!

The Mission was a great place for lunch with a large group – they were super attentive to our different dietary restrictions. They served us an amazing coursed lunch of kale salad, tacos, and mini-cocktails like this sangria margarita.

The we headed over to the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art to check out some of the exhibits. One of the current installations is called Divergent Materiality, which is all art made of glass. I loved this deep blue piece.

The graffiti-inspired piece with glass spray cans was also amazing. Although our visit to the museum was super quick, it was quite stunning and our docent was super knowledgeable. The glass exhibit is open until October 13, 2019.

After an afternoon of learning, we headed to The Phoenician Spa roof for a closing party. We all enjoyed taking photos by the pool as the sun set over Camelback Mountain while sipping the signature cocktail. The Phoenician Rising is Woodford bourbon, Cointreau, orange juice, grenadine, and orange bitters.

Representatives of Experience Scottsdale, Visit Phoenix, Visit Mesa, and Discover Salt River joined us for dinner. We learned about what’s going on in their cities related to travel, entertainment, and food. Lots to see and do ranging from kayaking to art to foodie tours!

The food was beautiful and came from The Phoenician’s eight restaurants. The salmon teriyaki, tuna tartare, squash hummus, and seasoned tater tots were delicious.

My favorite part of the meal was the tray of tiny desserts. Thanks for being my hand model, Brie! Highlights were the mini fruit tart and the mango mousse dome. The desserts were from the Afternoon Tea served at The Phoenician.

The night ended with a lovely tour of The Phoenician. This is of one of the many pools on the property.
