Nestled amidst the breathtaking Alpine scenery, this museum is a true gem that showcases the brilliance and artistry of Swarovski crystals. It was truly a unique experience that added a touch of sparkle to our already amazing winter holiday in Niederau.

The Swarovski company has a rich history that began in 1895 when Daniel Swarovski founded it. A century later, in honor of the company’s 100th anniversary, they decided to create something truly extraordinary – Swarovski Kristallwelten.
Since its grand opening in 1995, Swarovski Kristallwelten has become a must-visit landmark nestled in the picturesque Austrian Tyrol, specifically in the charming town of Wattens. Currently, it is one of the most popular tourist attractions in all of Austria.

If you’re planning a visit to Swarovski Kristallwelten, there are convenient and sustainable transportation options available to you. One of the best ways to reach the attraction is by utilizing the shuttle bus service. The Swarovski Kristallwelten Shuttle operates five times a day, providing a reliable and efficient mode of transport between Innsbruck and Swarovski Crystal Worlds.
BY TRAIN
To reach Swarovski Kristallwelten from Innsbruck, you have the option of taking a train from Bahnhofcenter Innsbruck to Fritzens-Wattens Bahnhof. This train journey takes 17 minutes and will provide you with a comfortable and convenient mode of transportation. Once you arrive at Fritzens-Wattens Bahnhof, you can embark on a pleasant 45-minute walk to reach the enchanting Swarovski Kristallwelten.

Chambers of Wonders – Swarovski Kristallwelten in Wattens
Inside the Giant, visitors will find a captivating array of exhibition spaces. These chambers, known as the Chambers of Wonder, have been reimagined at Swarovski Kristallwelten in Wattens to showcase the incredible creativity and talent of internationally and nationally recognized artists, designers, and architects.
In total, there are 18 showrooms within the Giant, each with its own thematic focus. Among the names that have contributed their unique interpretations of crystal to the Chambers of Wonder are Brian Eno, Tord Boontje, Niki de Saint Phalle, Jim Whiting, Keith Haring, Andy Warhol, Salvador Dalí, and Yayoi Kusama.

The journey into the giant begins with a visit to the captivating Blue Hall. The semi-darkness adds an air of intrigue, while the crooked walls, adorned in the mesmerizing hue of “International Klein Blue,” transport you to the depths of a hidden cave.
Among the remarkable exhibits are Crystal Wall, Salvador Dalí’s Disappearing Time, Crystal-bearing Nana by Niki de Saint Phalle, and the dazzling Gems created by the iconic artist Andy Warhol. As you approach the Silent Light tree made from 150 000 crystals, you can’t help but be awestruck by its shimmering brilliance. Each crystal, meticulously placed by Tord Boontje and Alexander McQueen, reflects the surrounding light, creating a dazzling spectacle that seems to transport you to a realm of eternal winter magic.
The air inside the Chamber of Wonder is crisp and cool, with the temperature dropping to a chilly -10° Celsius, adding to the immersive experience. Created in collaboration with TechnoAlpin, this enchanting display brings the beauty of winter to life, with a permanent snowfall that blankets the surroundings.

The Crystal Dome is an architectural marvel, inspired by the ingenious design of Sir Richard Buckminster Fuller’s geodesic dome. This dome is not just a visually stunning structure, but it also embodies the principles of geodesy, the scientific discipline that focuses on measuring and representing the Earth’s geography. Geodesy explores the shortest path between two points on a curved surface, and the Crystal Dome’s design perfectly captures this concept.
The dome is adorned with a mesmerizing display of 595 mirrors, strategically placed to create a captivating depth effect. As you explore the Crystal Dome, you’ll discover eight intriguing “spy mirrors” that conceal hidden art objects crafted by talented artists.

Curated by the renowned wardrobe designer Michael Schmidt and brought to life by the award-winning set designer Derek McLane, The Art of Performance takes you on a captivating journey through Swarovski’s illustrious history. Explore a timeline of cultural milestones and discover how Swarovski has inspired generations through its collaborations with world-renowned designers and artists.
Renowned wardrobe designer Michael Schmidt had the challenging task of selecting the pieces for the exhibition, and he was spoiled for choice. The Art of Performance is absolutely my favourite Chamber of Wonder at Swarovski Kristallwelten.
The Swarovski Kristallwelten Museum proudly showcases among others the iconic crown from the movie “The Young Victoria” (2009). This exquisite piece of artistry is a true testament to the craftsmanship and attention to detail that went into creating the film.
Dita von Teese
In Swarovski Kristallwelten Museum original garments worn by legendary figures such as Elton John, Lady Gaga, and Dita von Teese are on display, alongside recreations of historic pieces like Marlene Dietrich’s 1932 Blonde Venus outfit.
Katy Perry
The exhibition also features Katy Perry’s show-stopping Moschino Chandelier gown, which she wore to the 2019 Met Ball, as well as Björk’s mesmerizing Foraeva dress and pieces worn by Lady Gaga and Beyoncé. These hearts are not just beautiful works of art, but also a reflection of the emotions that connect us all. This magnificent space is filled with intricately designed heart-fairies, adorned with dazzling jewels, gracefully soaring through the air. Upon first sight, the artwork titled “Ice Passage” by Tyrolean artist Oliver Irschitz may seem like an ordinary empty corridor. However, it is only when you step inside that the true magic of this installation comes to life.

One of the highlights of the exhibition in Swarovski Kristallwelten is the mesmerizing installation called “Chandelier of Grief” by renowned contemporary artist Yayoi Kusama.
