How to get to Woolacombe?

BY TRAIN & BUS

There is no train station in Woolacombe, but you can take a train to a nearby town – Barnstaple. From Barnstaple Bus Station (located 12 minutes walk from the train station) you can catch a bus to Woolacombe. A bus ride from Barnstaple to Woolacombe Sands lasts about 40 minutes.

You can take 1-hour direct train from Exeter to Barnstaple. If you want to travel from Bristol, you will need to change train in Exeter to get to Barnstaple. It is the same for travelers from London, that would love to try train travel. They will need to get from London to Exeter and change a train to Barnstaple.

Woolacombe Parish Church

Due to its breathtaking scenery and exceptional beach, Woolacombe, a small village until the middle of the 19th century, expanded quickly with the arrival of mass tourism. In the 20th century, it was in need of its own Anglican church.

St. Sabinus’ Church was constructed of red sandstone however its north wall wasn’t finished until 1965 due to a lack of funding. There are a beautiful stained glass windows in the interior of the church and visitors are welcome every day of the year.
