Space Needle

When we think about Seattle, we tend to think about one of its most important landmarks: the Space Needle. This structure has graced Seattle’s landscape for almost six decades. You simply cannot leave Seattle without visiting and ascending the tower. You’ll be transported up in a glass elevator and find yourself on the observation deck. This provides an incredible view of Seattle’s buildings, the Cascade Mountains, the Olympic Mountains, and the islands of Puget Sound.

Seattle Art Museum (SAM)

The Seattle Art Museum (SAM) has its main location in downtown Seattle. There are a couple of other locations, too, including at Olympic Sculpture Park. Seattle Art Museum has a wonderful collection of Native American art, including basketry, carvings, totem poles, textiles, and masks. There’s Gothic and early-Renaissance Italian painting, too. If you enjoy 20^th-century American art, you’ll also be pleased to learn that there is art by Jacob Lawrence and Mark Tobey there, as well.

Washington Park Arboretum

The Washington Park Arboretum spans 230 acres and is located on Lake Washington. It is maintained by the City of Seattle and the University of Washington Botanic Gardens. Admission is free of charge every day. You’ll enjoy the park’s excellent winter garden in addition to the impressive collections of camellias, oaks, and maples.

Museum of Pop Culture

Seattle’s Museum of Pop Culture is housed in an incredible sheet-metal building, designed by Frank Gehry. It was established by Paul Allen, a Microsoft co-founder. The museum always has new exhibitions, including ones related to the pop culture areas of horror movies, video games, and sci-fi literature. If pop culture fascinates you, this is a place you have to see!

Olympic Sculpture Park

Olympic Sculpture Park is found on nine acres of land that was formerly an industrial site. The park is located at the city’s northern end. The sculpture park is an outdoor gallery for wonderful works of sculpture. There are more than 20 works for you to admire. One example is a monumental Eagle sculpture by Alexander Calder.

Seattle Great Wheel

The Seattle Great Wheel is the West Coast’s tallest Ferris wheel. It is located at Pier 57. If you want a more luxurious experience, you can upgrade to the VIP pod. This includes champagne, leather seats, and a glass floor, as well as the chance to skip ahead in line. You’ll love the amazing scenery you’ll see from the wheel.
