National 1798 Rebellion Centre, County Wexford

The National Rebellion Centre in County Wexford in a museum dedicated to the 1798 rebellion in Ireland. The rebellion lasted only four weeks and was based on the French Revolution of the same period. (1789 – 1799)

Enniscorthy was the home of the final major battle of the Rebellion. This was the Battle of Vinegar Hill in June 1798, although the Rebellion lasted until the final months of 1798.

Visit the National Rebellion Centre

The visitor attraction in Enniscorthy is one of the best spots in County Wexford to visit. The experience teaches the events of the rebellion in many unique ways including showing the Battle of Vinegar Hill using 4D.

Visitors will also learn about the leaders of the rebels and the weapons of the period that were used throughout the rebellion. Leaders of the rebels include Miles Byrne, Anthony Perry and many others. You will also learn about the British leaders including General Lake and General John Moore. Both were known for their commanding abilities.

  • Saturday to Sunday – Closed until Summer Season
  • Bank Holidays – Closed until Summer Season

Visitors can also visit Vinegar Hill for free. There is also an integrated ticket that visitors can but. This grants them access to both the Rebellion Centre and Enniscorthy Castle.
