“Photography conditions were pretty darn challenging the wet, overcast weekend I spent in Mount Shasta, so instead of photographing wide-angle vistas with blown-out white skies, I concentrated instead on smaller, intimate scenes with my telephoto, like this composition of trees in Castle Crags State Park on a foggy afternoon,” says Young. “As I was walking back to my truck, this scene, literally yards away from the small parking lot, caught my eye.”
