Ruler of Israel:

Prophet Dawood (AS) was among the descendants of Prophet Yaqoob (AS). He was one of the most compliant soldiers of the king of Israel at that time Talut. Prophet Dawood (AS) was blessed with a lot of bravery and wisdom by the grace of Allah. His valor and great perception led him to become the ruler of Israel.

Holy Book Zabur:

Prophet Dawood (AS) was given a beautiful voice by the Almighty Allah. His melodious voice became even mellower when he used to sing songs praising Allah the Almighty. Prophet Dawood (AS) was given the Holy Book Zabur by Allah which was sent for the guidance of the people of Israel. The book also contained songs of praise for Allah which when Prophet Dawood (AS) used to sing it seemed as if all the nature joined him in a union.

Wisdom of Prophet Dawood (AS) and his son Prophet Sulaiman (AS):

Allah had endowed Prophet Dawood (AS) with exceptional intelligence and ability to make sound decisions.  As it is stated in the Holy Quran about Prophet Dawood (AS): –

“And Allah gave him the kingdom! and wisdom and taught him of that which He willed.” (2: 251).

However, his son Prophet Sulaiman (AS) was even wiser than his father. Once a case was presented to Prophet Dawood (AS) regarding two women both of whom were mothers. However, one child was taken away and devoured by a wild animal. Now both the women claimed that the child who was alive belonged to them. It was difficult to tell who was saying the truth. The reason why the case was brought to Prophet Dawood (AS). Prophet Dawood (AS) decided in favor of the older woman. Dissatisfied by the verdict people approached Prophet Sulaiman (AS). after listening to the case he called for a knife and decided for the child to be cut into half and each part to be given to both the women. That was when the younger woman withdrew from her claim and let the older woman have the child.  Upon seeing this Prophet Sulaiman (AS) gave the child to the younger woman since she chose the child’s life over her claim. Only real mother could do that.

The craftsmanship of Prophet Dawood (AS):

Allah had granted great craftsmanship to Prophet Dawood (AS). He had the ability to soften and mold a thing as hard as iron into different objects. He pioneered in making armor out of iron. As the Holy Quran asserts:

‘O mountains! Repeat Our praises with him, and the birds you too’. And we softened for him iron, (saying) ‘Make wide coats of mail, and measure well the links and do righteous deeds. Surely I am Seer of what you do.” [34:10-11]

The humility of Prophet Dawood (AS):

Allah had gifted Prophet Dawood (AS) and his son Prophet Sulaiman (AS) with an abundance of knowledge wisdom and wealth. Prophet Dawood (AS) had such a melodious voice that added cadence to ears. However, he always maintained that whatever he had at his disposal was from Allah and he was nothing but one of Allah’s creatures. He used all his blessings just to spread the message of Allah and follow the path that which had been prescribed by Allah.

The Holy Maqam of Prophet Dawood (AS):

The tomb of Prophet Dawood (AS) is called the Maqam of Prophet Dawood (AS). It is situated in Palestine. Some people maintain that it is his tomb while others believe that he once lived here the reason why it is called Maqam of Prophet Dawood (AS). He lived for 70 years.
