What is Hajj and Why is it Important?

What is hajj and its importance

What is Hajj and why it is important for muslims? The history of hajj starts from the time of Prophet Abraham. His family played a significant role in the building of hajj, and many of its rituals are connected to the incidents happened with his wife and Prophet Ismail. Our beloved Prophet followed the same customs of his forefather Prophet Abraham. Since that time every Muslim on the globe yearns to attend this annual religious gathering and unites under the shade of holy Kaabah irrespective of color, creed and cast. They also enjoin the rites that memorialize the sacrifices offered by Prophet Abraham, Prophet Ismail and Hajirah. you need to know what is hajj and its basics

Basics of Hajj

Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam which is obligatory on every sane and financially capable Muslim once in their lifetime. As Allah Swt mentioned many times in Quran:

Those who want to understand the basics of hajj must read the life of Prophet Abraham in detail. It is worth reading before leaving for hajj as it reminds of his powerful legacy. He completely relied on Allah SWT and perfected his faith during the times of tribulations and trials. In this way, Muslims can recharge their commitment to Islam and help them in attaining pure faith in Almighty Allah.

Submission to Allah SWT

Among the many lessons, we learn from hajj being obedient to Allah SWT and submitting to his beloved Prophet Muhammad PBUH tops the list. Hajj is a form of worship that is prescribed by the Lord of the Heavens, and we must obey and listen. Each ritual teaches mere submission and manifestation of obedience to King of the Heavens and Prophet Muhammad PBUH.

Reminder of the Last Day

Any act that serves as a reminder of Hereafter or the Judgment Day has tremendous benefits as the main goal is to be successful there. Hajj is one of those excellent acts that remind us of the eternal purpose, the Last day. Pilgrims embark their journey by wearing two pieces of white cloth and leave all worldly possessions behind remembering only the last journey towards Allah SWT. The day of Arafah is a great reminder of the way humans will stand in front of Almighty Allah on the Judgment Day. This put more soul in the prayer in which they seek forgiveness of their sins.

Patience

The world is a place of trials and rituals of Hajj require hardship. They teach that believer must show patience in hard times and follow the right path. Hajj is a difficult journey that used to be more laborious in the past. Having certainty in the king of heavens and patience in troublesome affairs is the big lesson which we learn from Hajj.

May Allah SWT make this beautiful journey fruitful and guide us to the right path. Ameen!
