Keeping the Islamic faith, there are superior purposes of Ramadan fasting and its complete benefits known only by Almighty Allah but the main external effects are stated hereunder:

Puprose#1: The Fourth Pillar of Islam.

Ramadan has been occurring to Muslims for centuries as a fourth Islamic pillar in which the Holy book ‘Quran’ was sent down as right guidance for people. The literal meaning of fast involves refraining from all bodily pleasures and to stamp put worldly desires for the serving the obedience of Allah.

This is the foremost indulgence between a human and his creator.

Purpose#2: Islamic Spirituality

One of the primary purposes of this month results in a true trial of one’s character, mind, and body and above all spirit by allowing purifying each component with tolerance and self-control. With the arrival of Ramadan, all the bad things get forbidden for Muslims such as smoking, unhealthy eating, excessive sexual appetite during the fasts to get away with every bad habit.

Purpose#3: Empathizing with Poor

The blessed month of Ramadan serves multiple purposes in the form of giving ‘Charity’ known as ‘Zakah’for the less fortunate who are in dire need to receive empathy and who are every moment struggling with hunger, poverty, lack, and insufficiency.

When any Muslim observes fasting, he/ she feels the heart itch of starving to max that many poor people go through this feeling daily.

This then leads to compassion and generating an intrinsic connection with the less privilege human race.

In Ramadan, when we refrain from Allah’s riches, only then we learn to value them.

Fasting makes us socially responsible and stronger to maintain relations whether with your family or friends. All the family members gather around before Fajr to do Sehri and break- fast at Maghrib for Iftar. This creates a healthy do between a family and Muslims also invite each other to an Iftar gathering which makes them closer to each other making their social relation active and sustained.

The most significant purpose in the month of Ramadan is ‘Laylat-ul-Qadr’better known as the ‘Night of Power’ comes in the last ten days of Ramadan. It is said that when the revelation of Quran was sent down to Prophet Muhammad, Laylat-ul-Qadr occurred in the odd-numbered night during the last Ashra. On this night, Muslims in mosques gathers for ‘Qiyams’(standing) and spend the whole night in worship.

The Quran states that Laylat al-Qadr is “better than a thousand months” of worship.
