I recently visited Fujinomiya on a Mount Fuji Food Tour with Arigato Japan and visited the Mt Fuji World Heritage Center which was epic (which you can view here) and tasted all the amazing food famous in Shizuoka! In the space of a few hours I feasted on 2 types of Shizuoka Yakisoba, Shizuoka-style Oden, Strawberries, Fish Cakes, Soba as well as making Wagashi and enjoying it with Shizuoka Matcha Tea.

Some other famous foods in Fujinomiya include green tea, rainbow trout, tofu, milk and other dairy products, wasabi, and sake. Shizuoka oden is particularly quite famous across Japan for its darker broth, fish powder toppings and hot mustard.

If you’re planning a trip to Japan, try and get out of the capital cities and visit more of the many small towns which have so much to offer – such as Fujinomiya!
