Bristol Hen Weekend – Simon Sucksmith

Is Bristol Hen an absolutely fabulous destination for a hen weekend? Of course it is! Let’s be straight, this is your final flurry of fun before married life begins. Put all thoughts of domesticity and being a grown-up to one side and head to the most colourful and entertaining city in the south west.

There are so many places to stay in and around the city, many based centrally, but also some fine local country cottages and houses to hire as a base for a great girly weekend. What could be better than your own girl house?

Wherever you stay you can pick and choose loads of great things to do for your Bristol hen weekend. Maybe you could release your inner naughty entertainer with erotic and fun pole dancing or burlesque lessons, sure to spice up your life and provide giggles along the way.

For the creative girls there are cocktail masterclasses, perfume parties (create your own!) and life drawing lessons, or if you just want to relax you can be pampered at a health club.

It would be a shame to spend all your time hidden indoors though, so how about a boat based pub crawl or a treasure hunt? Both great ways to explore some of the city’s fine drinking establishments. Too early to hit the alcohol? Then why not head to the fields to throw stuff, hit things and fall about laughing at one of the local farms. Fresh air, laughter and a bit of mud can’t be beaten!

It would be mad to neglect one of Bristol hen biggest attractions and absolute magnet to the ladies, the shops. The centre is home to Cabot Circus, a huge contemporary shopping area with hundreds of stores.

From stylish and sometimes quirky boutiques to very famous high class names you could spend a whole weekend just shopping. Stroll towards Clifton and you’ll find even more eclectic places to pick up something special.

You may want to get outside in the fresh, country air and really let off some steam with your girly hens.  West Country Games is one of the most popular activities in Bristol hen for stag and hen groups.

Take part in 9 hilarious games that will act as a real ice breaker. The final game is a proper stitch up for the hen, you’ll all be in fits of laughter.  And if you are looking for a hen party Cardiff, look out for this company’s sister activity, Welsh Games.

By the evening you’ll either be tired out or totally pumped up ready to hit the huge array of pubs, clubs and places to eat. You can step back into the 80s, go jazz or mainstream, laugh your socks off at comedy, check out the Waterfront bars and restaurants and munch your way round the world with the help of an endless choice of eateries. Nights out here don’t finish until the morning, it’s a local rule we’re proud of!

All of this is within your grasp thanks to the city’s location with excellent transport links by road, rail and air. As the locals might be heard to say, “Gert lush!”.
