My Holy Walkathon-Bihar

Tags: bihar holy ganga

I am in my immersive Ganga parikarma.
Each moment of it leaves imprint on my soul.
Walking at my pace and at my time.
Carrying the emotions of hundreds of people who see hope in me.
Serve me with faith. Shower loads of love and good wishes on me.
Apart from my spiritual quest, people connection is the foremost gain that I  achieve during my holy walk undergoing presently. Knowing them and interacting with them, each day.

My Ganga parikrama has entered Uttar Pradesh now.
Smile sprang while crossing Karmansa  river and entering Uttar Pradesh.
After West Bengal and Jharkhand, walk in Bihar state of India, completed.

This map reflects those points in Bihar where I had night stays after each day’s walk and had extra rest days at some places since 19th March.

I have walked twice in Bihar state, while going to Gangasagar, and now on return, I walked in Bihar.
Throughout Bihar, I experienced people deeply rooted in traditions.
I had the privilege to participate in traditions and religious fervor of Bihar while I stayed with many families.
This is what distinguishes journey on foot to other means of journey.

Felt elated when saw youth getting inspired, motivated by my holy walkathon and my previous 7 continents explorations. They happened from varied educational backgrounds. University students. Engineering graduates. Law graduates. Post graduates. Even young entrepreneurs priding in their start-up. Few preparing for competitive exams. They walked with me on different stretches and expressed their views freely.

I do got in emotional overwhelm when saw so many people serve me with reverence, as if I am a holy entity.
Once I said humbly that I am just a simple woman in service of mother Ganga. They replied that they see deity’s reflection in me and feel blessed by serving me. I was speechless and prayed supreme Ganga bless them all.

Moments of gratitude having gracious people treat me as a member of their families.
I count me a rich woman now, having so many families and sharing their homes where they welcomed me with open hearts. Each day I became a part of new family. Sharing their thoughts. Sharing their emotions.
They even made me visit ancient religious places of that area.
In last 2 weeks, among prominent sights I visited include ancient Gauri Shankar temple in Baikathpur.
While staying in Maner I went to Triveni sangam, the confluence of three rivers, Ganga, Saryu and Son.
This confluence has special significance as sangam of Nar(male) and Nari(female) wherein Son river is symbolized as male river. Local community says that this sangam has a special mention in Balkand of Ramayana.
An exclusive visit to Bakhorapur Kali Devi temple. Special puja at Brahmpur Shiva temple. And the divine arti arranged for me at Ram Ghat in Buxor, to mark my last day in Bihar. Not to forget my memorable Holi in Buleti village of Bhojpur.

Walking in Bihar has been absolutely safe and most memorable for me.

Blissful Bihar, indeed.

My holy walkathon continues…
