10 Good Reasons To Visit San Francisco This Spring

Depending on what part of the country you call home, you’re either seeing the first hints of spring weather or you’re still stuck under a few feet of snow. Either way, it won’t be long before the weather warms up and the sun emerges—and that means it’s a great time to visit San Francisco.

While the weather in San Francisco isn’t quite as warm as Southern California, April and May are usually sunny and pleasant. Besides, there are plenty of spring events to entice you to book your trip. We’ll give you 10 good reasons to reserve your low-cost car rental San Francisco and visit The Golden City before summer.

  1. Check out The California Artisan Cheese Festival in Santa Rosa

Here’s one of the top reasons to check out our San Francisco car rental reservation packages: You can make the hour-long drive to Santa Rosa and enjoy the best cheese of your life, not to mention chat with over 100 artisan cheese and food producers, winemakers, brewers, and chefs. This year’s dates are March 23-25, and tickets cost between $45 and $135, depending on how much you want to see and taste.

  1. Three words: Giants baseball games

Whether you’re a diehard baseball fan or you barely know what a strike means, you should still try to see a Giants game while you’re in San Francisco. The energy at AT&T Park is palpable, and you just might leave the stadium a Giants fan. Either way, you’ll have a blast at the game.

  1. Taste a bunch of wine in Mendocino…

On Saturday, April 7, more than 30 local wineries will be pouring at A Taste of Mendocino, an upscale tasting event that also features delicious bites from artisanal food producers. And if you like what you taste, you can buy wine, cider, craft spirits and food to take home with you. The cost of this event is $60.

  1. … or, visit this actual farmers market for wine.

On April 7 and April 8, the San Francisco Vintners Market will set up at City View at Metreon to connect with other wine lovers. Try a few samples, then buy wine from over 200 wineries, including some small family-owned places you may never be able to buy from otherwise. You’ll want to bring an extra suitcase if you plan to attend this event.

  1. Take in some beautiful spring cherry blossoms (for free)

From April 14-April 22, the Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival will be celebrating the gorgeous blooms in Japantown. The event is also a celebration of Asian traditions, with food booths, live music, martial arts, and a big parade on April 22. The cherry blossoms alone are totally worth the visit.

  1. Celebrate Earth Day San Francisco-style

It should come as no surprise that Earth Day is a special day in this hippie-friendly city. On April 21, celebrate with the Earth Day street fair that runs from 11 AM – 7 PM. Between the live music, keynote speakers, organic food vendors and the eco-fashion show, it’s easy to spend hours at the Civic Center Plaza. Also, the event is free.

  1. Check out Opening Day on the Bay

Opening Day on the Bay is a long-standing local tradition, marking the official arrival of “boating season.” There’s a parade of boats you can see from the waterfront, and plenty of boats you can buy tickets to board. This year’s Opening Day will be April 22.

  1. Dance your way through the city

If you have a dance background or you just love it (or want to learn), Visit San Francisco between April 27 and May to take advantage of Dance Week. The event is free and includes 700 performances, classes and workshops. The Bay Area has one of the largest and most active dance communities in the country, so this is a great opportunity to learn.

  1. Experience the infamous Bay to Breakers

The Alaska Airlines Bay to Breakers 12K is San Francisco’s craziest foot race. And whether you go with the intention of exercising or just to observe and cheer on the runners, you’ll want to wear some kind of costume. This year’s race is on May 20.

  1. Connect with other cultures at Carnaval

Can you tell San Francisco is a city that loves its festivals? On May 26 and 27, Harrison between 16th and 24th Streets converts into Carnaval, the city’s most festive multicultural celebration. Enjoy cuisine from around the world, a wide variety of music, and the Grand Parade (on May 27). Best of all, admission is free.

Of course, you’ll find plenty of other spring events and activities in San Francisco, not to mention the classic amenities that make the city so famous. Super Cheap Car Rental San Francisco has a location directly across the street from the BART and CalTrain Stations at SFO.
