Day 1
7am: Mon Repos Turtle Encounter
From November to late March, travellers have an opportunity to visit the largest concentration of marine turtles on the eastern Australian mainland. Mon Repos Turtle Encounter is a guided tour in to the world of turtles where one can witness an ancient ritual as mother turtles lurch their way up sandy dunes from November to January and baby turtles erupt from their nests between late-January to late-March. Allow up to 6 hours for a full guided tour and turtle encounter.
1pm: Savour fresh local seafood at Grunske’s
Grunske’s is a relaxed restaurant overlooking the Burnett River, serving fresh local and seasonal produce.
3:30pm: Visit the award winning artisan distilling and brewing company
Kalki Moon Distilling and Brewing company is family owned offering free guided mini tours with complementary tastings. Initially founded as a small batch premium rum distillery, this business has grown to producing gin, vodka and liqueurs.
6pm: Wind the busy day at the Bundaberg Botanic Gardens
The Bundaberg Botanic Gardens cover over 27 hectares of land and features a variety of trees and shrubs. Take in the view of the splendid lake which attracts numerous species of birds. The garden has a wedding chapel, picnic area, boardwalks and a children’s playground.
Day 2
9am: Fuel your day with a big breakfast
Head to Oodies Café, a cosy café catering to all diets and tastes,serving all day breakfast, burgers and enchanting coffee.
12pm: Hike at the Coalstoun Lakes National Park
The Coalstoun Lakes walking track is an ideal track for those who are looking for a bit of an adventure. Walk up the northern side of the crater to explore stunning views and the magnificent rural landscape. Allow up to 3 hours to fully experience the beautiful park.
6pm: Kick your feet over beautiful sun set
Being perched on the banks of the beautiful Burnett River, H2O Restaurant and Bar offer stunning water views. Enjoy sumptuous locally grown produce and cocktails to watch the sun go down and to reminisce the activities over the last two days.
