In Delhi alone, there are more than 2100 marriages were solemnized in one night in October, 2008. You know how much a Delhi marriage cost with all that pomp and showmanship. Who cares for empty pockets?
There is a heading in yesterday’s ‘Telegraph’ . It says ‘‘Sale of Premium cars bucks downtrend’’. According to this news item sales of all cars fell nearly 7% in last ten months, however Mercedes Benz has Recorded an almost 47% rise in sales from January to October 2008 compared with the corresponding period last year. Mercedes cars are priced at an average of Rs 30 lakh per unit. Similar ternd has also been recorded in sales of another luxury brand Bentley. Bentley has experienced about 20% growth last year and expected to do same this year. Companies such as BMW, Audi, Porsche and Rolls-Royce have recorded good growth in recent months. Analysts say the demand has been coming from high net worth individuals to whom banks and other financial institutions are not averse to lending.
