Returned from visiting in Texas

Returned from visiting in Texas

Visiting in Texas again was fun.   We spent a week with our daughter in Baytown.

Baytown is a community southeast of Houston.  From driving around town, it appears that the town has a large hispanic population.   We went into several of the local stores and checked out their local foods.   Everything looked familiar from our stay in Mexico.   We even used a few of the Spanish words learned over the past year.

Our daughter took us down to Galveston Beach for a few days.   The beach was wonderful to see again.  Even though the water wasn’t the beautiful Sea Blue, it was still relaxing and rejuvenating to be near.

On the way back to Baytown, we found a familiar sign “Woody’s”.   This sign is always associated with beach bar to us and this Woody’s didn’t disappoint.    We walked up the ramp to the upper level overlooking the Gulf of Mexico.   Sitting on the upper covered deck, the breeze was cool and the view was spectular.    Of course, there comes that moment you have to pay the tab and move on even if you didn’t want too.

One day we ventured over to Buc-ee’s.

This is a very large convenience store alongside I-10 in Baytown.   There are 100 gas pumps available for filling up your car, RV or truck.   Inside the store, you couldn’t imagine all the items for sale.   Fresh cakes and candies in one spot.  Another place in the store, they were making fresh sandwiches.   I choose the Bar-B-Que Brisket on a bun, on my, it was delicious.  Tons of choices for snacks and drinks.

One side of the store was home decor items, soaps, lotions, jewelry, clothing, etc.

Leaving the store, I thought its true everything is bigger in Texas.

Also found this fabulous WingHouse Restauant.  We went there on a Tuesday night when the special is double the wings order.  I ordered 6 and got 12.   The wings are so good that there were people lining outside to pick up their orders.   Of course, the beer was cheaper on that day too.

The visit lasted a week and we had a very nice time.

So now we are lounging around in Louisiana until we can find somewhere else to take a short trip while waiting on our planned trip to Portugal.  We have 4 months until the scheduled takeoff –

Don’t forget to check out the ads.   Some other sites of interest to visit —

Have a great day — keep smiling when everyone else is falling apart.
