Medical and Dental in Mexico—-

Medical and Dental in Mexico

We have been asked many times about health care in Mexico.  People wander how we manage without American Health insurance coverage here.   What about Dental care?   How can you afford these expenses?

There are health insurance plans available here.  Our current policy covers Medical worldwide, except in America for emergency and illnesses including emergency transportation back to the States if needed.   The plan cost  is approximately $165 per month.

In the community where we currently live, the doctor will come to your home for the visit.  You call her personal cell phone and she will tell you what time to expect her visit on the same day.  Cost for home visit – $25USD.

Recently, we started dental services.

All dental care is done at the one location.   There are no dental hygienist working on your Teeth, it’s always the dentist.   If needed, the oral surgeon comes to the office.

I recently had x-rays on two teeth with the dental work completed and 2 crowns molded and set in place at the office.  The cost was $500USD.   Regular fillings are approximately $40USD each tooth.   Cleaning teeth is $20USD.

John had some minor tooth extractions and bone graft replacement completed.  The oral surgeon came to the office, sedated him, pulled 2 teeth and did a bone graft.   She completed all of this in one hours for the total cost of $159USD.

The surgeon wrote out 3 prescriptions for him to follow up after the procedure.  We took them over to the nearby Chedraui pharmacy to have filled.  Total cost for all of the medications was $10.00USD.

Doctors and dentist will follow up with a call or email to see how you are doing.   If you need anything else, they will provide the service.

Medical and dental care in Mexico is not only excellent, the price is well within budget.
