2023 FASHION TRENDS SPRING/SUMMER: TRAVEL CLOTHES FOR WOMEN FOR AIRPORT & MORE

Beautiful weather is slowly approaching. Sunseekers are counting down to their travel adventures in the spring and summer. To inspire us to create a stylish travel wardrobe, we look to the 2023 Fashion Trends showcased on the spring/summer runways. The 2023 fashion trends below are well suited. Whether you are looking for airport outfits or other travel outfits for a road trip, sightseeing, cruising, and etcetera. Comfortability is at the heart of travel style. Runway fashion and comfortability are determining factors for best travel clothes for women.

Current spring/summer 2023 fashion trends include metallics, and cobalt blues. Other trends are big cargo pockets, loose denim, crochet, acid green, motocross, and ballet shoes.

BIG CARGO POCKETS

Cargo pants have always been around—this time around the emphasis is on big multiple pockets. Designers like Versace, Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Prada, and Miu Miu showcased this trend on their runways. These big roomy pockets can carry your personal items like phone, wallet/purse, and lip-gloss. They are also perfect for a sightseeing outing.

SHINY METALLICS

Be it silver or gold, the fashion streets are shining bright this spring. This shimmering fashion trend came alive on the lanes of some fashion designers such as Gucci and Michael Kors.

Most people are used to seeing these heavy metal looks at evening events especially in the cooler months. But, the shimmering looks for the spring/summer 2023 fashion trends are proving to be fashion forward and are wearable during the day.

Silver metallic clothing items paired with gray accessories proved to be a perfect combination. Silver and black also looked good. As for gold outfits—gold and black, gold and white, and gold from top to bottom are some of the looks showcased on the runway. Designers that featured this look include Simone Rocha, Altuzarra, Givenchy, Tory Burch, Alaina, and Gabriela Hearst.

COBALT BLUE

Moving on from neon pink that blew up in 2022, the 2023 trends brought in the cobalt blue color. This bold hue popped up on important runways—Alexander McQueen, David Koma, Richard Quinn, and Cecilie Bahnsen. Some designers created an all blue outfit, some paired dresses, pants, and jackets with black shoes and accessories. The bolder the hue the bigger the statement. Royal blue works as an alternative to cobalt blue since the shades are not too different.

BIG LOOSE DENIM

Denim has always been around for many many years. The designs keep evolving and for spring/summer 2023 fashion trends, designers went bigger, wider, and looser. Altuzarra, Chloe, Dior, and Bally were some of the fashion houses that showcased this trend. The looser the garment, the better travel clothing item it is.

CROCHET KNITS

Usually knits pop up in the fall/winter season but for spring/summer 2023 trends, fashion houses showcased cobweb crochet knits in the form of skirts, dresses, and tops. Gabrielle Colangelo crocheted backs were beautifully weaved. Other designers that embraced the knit trend were Victoria Beckham, Gabriela Hearst, and Proenza Schouler.

BALLET SHOES WITH SOCKS

Ballet shoes are nothing new in the fashion world. This trend has been in existence for a very long time. For this year the designers loved this trend in their fashion shows and some paired them with patterned socks. Thom Browne and Simone Rocha were some of the fashion houses that had their models wearing ballet shoes. These are comfortable and have proven to be perfect shoes for travel.

BIKERS LOOK

The biker look has been around in the fashion realm for a while especially when it comes to leather biker jackets and biker boots. For 2023 fashion trends, besides solid colored jackets and boots, we saw leather pants and boots that color block. Some of the high fashion designers that embraced the motocross and biker looks are Clhloe, Louis Vuitton, Dion Lee, and Gucci.

ACID GREEN

Another bold color that was popular on the runway was acid green. Miu Miu and Fendi tastefully showcased this trend. Dresses, hats, shoes, and bags featured this vibrant hue. This color has been in and out over the years; 2023 revamped the boldness and made it carry an even louder statement than previously portrayed.

EXTRA BIG BAGS

Big bags come in handy when you are traveling to the airport and want a good size personal bag. The runway saw extra large handbags that are stylish. Louis Vuitton, Bottega Veneta, Chloe, and Loewe showcased their versions of big bags for spring/summer 2023 fashion trends.

To summarize, the spring/summer 2023 fashion trends include metallics, acid greens, motocross/biker wear, cobalt blues, big cargo pockets, loose denim, crochet dresses and tops, and ballet shoes.

These are a few designs that were predominantly showcased by most designers. Most designers recycled some past ideas and made a few tweaks. Biker jackets and boots don’t change that much. If you already have one of these jackets, you can alter some parts of your jacket. Add other colored fabric patches to create a color block attire that mimics the current 2023 style trend. All this effort is to reduce waste. After all, most leather jackets sit in wardrobes almost new, having been worn only a couple of times in their lifetime.

The same sustainable measures apply to cargo pants with big multiple pockets. Simply cut an old cotton clothing item with a matching color to your cargo pants or skirt (cut square shapes). Attach the square pieces to your old cargo pants to create a multiple pocket look. The sewing blogs on the internet and YouTube have detailed instructions on how to sew pockets. If you don’t have a sewing machine or don’t want to deal with needles and thread, you can take your small alteration project to your local seamstress or tailor shop. You will be helping keep clothes from landfills, at the same time giving business to local businesses. That’s a win from both angles!
