London: a look into the three travel cafés of London Waterloo

I can’t be the only one who has a slight obsession with frequenting cafés.

When I Travel or live in a place I tend to visit them often. Because coffee, tea, cakes, seeing people of the local area, chatting, creating, brainstorming and all that good stuff. And just generally, I find anyway, that there’s always a magic in the air (in certain cafés anyway).

Recently, I’ve been working from my laptop more and exploring the cafés of London’s Waterloo. There are a lot of cafés here. But more specifically, I found three travel themed cafés. For a café or travel lover, this is worth a wander to whilst in London; plus all are suitable for remote working with good wifi.

The Travel Café

“A cafe for travelers to stay and get inspiration”

The Travel Café is a minamilistic cafe with lots of light. Fluffy and light croissants, cute travel postcards for sale, interesting books about London. It’s a wholly pleasant and calming place. It is not a noisy setting, and ideal for working; less so a lively catch up. The Barista told me that they typically offer savoury options during the week, but not on Saturday as they close at 2pm!

Opening times: Monday to Friday= 8am–4pm; Saturday= 11am-14; Sunday= closed

Travelling Through bookstore and café

“A modern fusion of independent bookshop, cafe, culture hub and art space”

Picture from the Travelling Through website

Travelling Through is a incredibly comfy and charming bookstore. When you walk in upstairs, you see a room full of well organised travel books from all over the world, ranging from travel guides to commuter inspired reads. In the front of the room the books are new, in the back they are second hand. All of these are maned by one member of staff, a lady, who was incredibly helpful in tracking me down a guide to Bali for an upcoming trip. Downstairs is a café equipped with all the usual servings and comfortable seating.

Opening times: Monday to Friday= 9.30am–6.30pm; Saturday= 11am-6pm; Sunday= closed

Four Corners Café

“A place for your dreams, schemes and daydreams.”

I’ve spoken about Four Corners Café before on the blog. But thought it wouldn’t be fair to leave it our of this round up. Four Corners is essentially café with a small but respectable travel library, and lots of travel inspired decor that makes travel lovers truly feel at home. It’s equipped with the usual pastries and hot drink selections, but also offers some tasty bagel options: like avocado and feta. This is  good places to come for a chatter, and to devise travel places; it offers a constant hum. If you are somewhat of a travel guide collector you are in luck, you can donate your travel guide in exchange for a free coffee.

Opening times: Monday to Friday= 7:30am–6:30pm; Saturday= 9am-5pm; Sunday= closed
