Mauritius is a tiny island in the Indian Ocean off the coast of South Africa. Other countries around it are Madagascar, Seychelles and Reunion island. There are direct flights from Paris, Dubai and Johannesburg. We flew in from Madagascar and were immediately impressed with the quality of the airport considering we just came back from the rustic airport of Madagascar. If you are based in Dubai, Mauritius is certainly a destination you should consider as the island is full of activities but also of wonderful places to stay and unwind from the daily grind.

At our arrival, within 15 minutes we were already collecting luggage and walking out of arrivals. Four seasons has its counter once you walk out of the arrivals, so you can catch your transfer to the hotel. You will have to make sure your transfer is also organized in advance as your stay does not include a complimentary transfer from the airport to the hotel.

There are fully functioning ATM machines just out the doors of arrival that work with all international cards. So if you fancy getting money out and also use a taxi, you will be able to do this conveniently. The Four Seasons resort is located approximately 40 minutes drive north from the international airport. Some people who come to Mauritius even rent a car to drive around and it can be picked up at the airport upon arrival.

Facilities at Four Seasons Mauritius Anahita

The Four Seasons Mauritius resembles more of a secluded town than just a hotel. There is a large range of complementary and paid health and wellness activities to keep you busy for days. There are a few beach options you can hang at, including one with all the motorized and non-motorized. There are hobby boats, stand up paddle boards, kayaks, pedal boats and much more for you to use whenever you want. There is also a beach aptly named “Quiet Beach” where adults can get away and enjoy ocean and mountain views at the same time with the peace and quiet one deserves and needs while on holiday.

The fitness centre of the property is up to expectations of a Four Seasons property, always with full equipment comparable to a luxury gym. There are four personal trainers ready to help you with your fitness and wellness needs and a weights room with enough equipment for a tough workout. If you are not into lifting, there are bikes, treadmills, rowers, machines, boxing, and kettlebells. There is also a 25m lap pool that runs through the middle of the fitness centre if you prefer that to the ocean. There is also special gym equipment called Synergy. The first of its kind on the island, Synergy is a great and fun way for groups to get a big workout in with some fun added in too.

There is also a whole load of shopping facilities here with really high-quality products, enough to fill up some more suitcases. I haven’t even mentioned the turtles yet! Yes, there are 3 turtles who live on the property, with the oldest one being 120 years old! How crazy is that? They are super friendly and love a good neck rub as well.

Rooms at Four Seasons Mauritius Anahita

What can I say about this room? Absolutely first class. Travelling with two extra friends, we had a two-bedroom partial ocean room villa, but it honestly felt more like a home an actual hotel room. As you open the first gate, you have your own little local style gardens to walk into your villa main door. As you enter the living room, you are welcome with a set of couches, TV and a huge dining table. The villa also has its own kitchen, with coffee machine, fridge and microwave. Divided by the living area are the two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king bed and the other room has a set of queen beds, each room with its own patio to go on the terrace outside. There are also double doors to the double vanity bathroom that sits behind the bed.

The bathroom is as big as some other hotel rooms we have stayed in. There are two walk-in wardrobes and an indoor and outdoor shower. There is also a bathtub with salts and body lotion.

Out the back of the house, there is the terrace, a plunge pool and couches both in shade and in the sun. Our favourite was the couch by the pool that gave us sun time and pool vibes. All villas have their own pool and even though it was a little overcast, we spent plenty of time out there.

Dining Four Seasons Mauritius Anahita

There is a host of restaurants to cater to any of your cuisine pleasures. Acquapazza is the place to get your Italian fix in an open-air restaurant. They fuse seafood with Italian to make a range of incredible dishes that left us very full. We tried the fish of the day and some wood fire pizzas. But to top it all off, the desserts were incredible and sent us into a sugary stupor.

Beau Champ is the main restaurant where breakfast is served every morning. This was one of the best breakfasts we have had in a long while. First of all, the wine cellar gets transformed into an enormous room of meat, cheese, and bread station and is where we spent plenty of time.

We choose to sit by the water every morning so we could enjoy the suns rays, read the world news that was prepared by the hotel and watch the birds and the fish play all around us.

Bambou is located by the beach and water area and is a terrific place to grab a quick bite before hopping back on the lounge chairs or straight into some more activities. It is only open for lunch and dinner and you should book ahead.

You can also visit the O Bar for some sunset cocktails or even a cold beer. There are sports rocking on the TV so if you are a sports nut like me, or enjoy listening to incredible live musicians in the evening, then make sure you spend some time here.

Sustainability at Four Seasons Mauritius Anahita

There are a host of initiatives that Four Seasons have been involved with to make the world a better place. They only change the linen when requested and the straws here in Mauritius are no longer plastic. Four Seasons, as a global initiative, is slowly making all their properties sustainable and make sure to reduce the most plastic usage as much as possible.

Our experiences at Four Seasons Mauritius Anahita

We were non stop in the go while staying at the Four Seasons because there is just so much to do. We were here for three nights but it wasn’t even close enough time to even see all the activities. We would have spent more of our time on the Paddleboards and other sports activities. The food here was so good that there were not enough meals in the day to enjoy every meal we wanted to. You can call a buggy to get around the resort but if that is not your style then you are also able to get pedal bikes to go anywhere you want. We found that biking around it a great way to see it all and enjoy the greenery of the property too.

 Private beach experience at Ile aux Cerf

When staying at the four seasons, you can take the hourly speed boat across the short channel to the famous Ile aux Cerf island. However, the property has its very own private beach here exclusive only to our guests.

On the island, you have the same exceptional four seasons service as you sip on island famous Pina Coladas at the La Plaz bar. We sat down and had a seafood lunch here consisting of tuna tartare, ceviche, a tuna burger with squid ink flavour and a tomato and burrata cheese salad. They were down to perfection and with a plate of crunchy fries, made a perfect way to enjoy our own beach. The sand is so white so make sure you pack your sunscreen and swimmers to enjoy the water. The boats return back to the main resort every hour, so it is a great way to get away from everyone and enjoy the island, even if it is only for a little bit.
