Four Seasons Orlando: An attraction on its own

One of the main reasons why people come to Orlando is to pay a visit to the incredible world of Disney. With several theme parks and resorts, there are plenty of options for you and the family. Four Seasons Orlando at Walt Disney World® sets out to offer you the best of both worlds, you still get all the luxuries of a fantastic Four Seasons Property with the added magic of Disney sprinkled around the grounds and other entertainment for all ages. Once you step foot inside Four Seasons Orlando, you may not even want to skip a day at Disney to maximize it all at @FSOrlando! As they say, this is where luxury meets magic.

How to get around from the property

The Four Seasons Orlando is located straight in the middle of Walt Disney World and isolated in a secluded and quiet area on the Walt Dinner property. All the Walt Disney parks (Magical Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Epcot can be seen from the property and you are at the ideal position to watch any fireworks show, but that’s another story.

The best way to get around from the Four Seasons has to be either Uber or you can use the complimentary transportation to all the theme parks provided by Four Seasons. The Disney theme parks are great at providing transportation to their theme parks and associated resorts so it will never be a problem.

Dining at Four Seasons Orlando

We were treated to some culinary delights on our first night by eating at Ravello. The candlelit mood had us ready to dine and we were treated to a range of the best chef’s recommendations.

We had the following meals at our dinner and they are all definitely to recommend you to take if you ever end up here:

  • Sea Scallops with Roasted Zucchini, onion jam and tomato.
  • Pomodoro e Burrata
  • Heirloom tomatoes, delicious burrata cheese and balsamic drizzle
  • Mini Pizza Alla Salsiccia with homemade Italian sausage, pepperoni, cured ham, mozzarella and basil oil
  • Pasta/ Strozzapreti lunghi Gali spinach
  • Shrimp, Pinot grigio sauce, crispy guanciale, roasted tomatoes and Sicilian oregano
  • Manzo, a dry aged rib eye containing fabrizos rub, grilled asparagus, roasted potatoes and Chianti sauce
Eating at Ravello

Like all the facilities in the Four Seasons, the attention to detail by the staff was exceptional in their knowledge of the menu and the service as top notch. We enjoyed a lunch at PB&G, an international cuisine restaurant that is in the middle of the property and overlooks the lake. It is a peaceful spot to have a feed with a great view but also be only a 1-minute walk to every major facility on the property. If you re looking for a snack ten make sure you try the Pretzels with Beer cheese, it went down a treat!

The Lobby bar is a great place to have a strong drink and if you like, enjoy the firework display in the evening from here. The choice of liquor here is the 25-year-old Macklin Whisky or the Fireball. We didn’t spend too much time here but walked past it every day and the views looked great. Likely Split is the sweet tooth coffee shop located on the second level and is great to have a coffee with some peace and quiet. They have a massive range of coffee and gelato (Try the birthday cake and cookies and cream)

The Ravello breakfast was one of the many highlights of our stay at the Four Seasons. Every Thursday and Saturday everyone who eats there gets the opportunity to meet Goofy and his pals – Mickey and Minnie. They bring happiness not only to the kids dressed up as Disney characters but also to the other guests enjoying breakfast. You can get photos with them all if you also like.

On our last night, we booked into the Capa Restaurant, the Spanish/ Steakhouse up on the 17th floor overlooking the property. After sampling some local beers we got straight into the tapas and small plates. The Octopus and the Dates were our personal favourites, who doesn’t love Dates wrapped in bacon? We shared a 16oz Ribeye as our main and it was cooked to perfection. Sometimes it is hard to get the right temperature for a steak but the chefs at Camp nailed it.

To top it all off, we were sat down in time to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks show as we ate our starter which was perfect timing. There is a balcony out the front so everyone can walk out and enjoy the spectacle.

Facilities at the Four Seasons Orlando

This is the first time I have been to a 4 seasons resort and been blown away by the number of activities there are to do!

The property is absolutely massive and as you can tell from the balcony of your room it has plenty of activities to keep you busy. We walked over to Explorer Island which is like a kids paradise (even big kids like us too!) The Explorer Island has a swimming pool in the middle which looks more like a castle than a waterpark. This area is called the “Splash Zone.” There are 2 water slides at the top of the castle which kept Thuymi and I entertained several times over. There was a full sized Basketball court and Volleyball courts also there so you can play plenty of sports. There is a pool Basketball set up and a billiard table that are accessible at any time. The adjacent pool is great to relax but also plays dive in movies. The rotate these movies a few times a week and they play a range of favourite Disney movies for adults and kids alike.

The Hideout area is a place full of games and is specially designed to keep the kids entertained. But like all things here at Four Seasons, you feel like a big kid and end up playing some games as well. From four-player Pac-Man to the original Sega Mega-drive, Mario Cart, Battleships, Uno and Connect 4, there are dozens of different games to keep you occupied as long as you want.

We always look at the quality of the gym when we visit hotels as fitness is something that we are passionate about. The fitness facilities and aerobics room were decked out with every bit of equipment you will need to do a workout and they also have complimentary fitness classes. These classes happen every morning as the sun is rising so if you are an army riser then hum down and do the sessions with qualified instructors. I was able to complete my complicated workouts with rowing machines, stairs and heavy dumbbells.

Winding around the outdoor area is the gentle Lazy river. A 10-minute circuit, the lazy river takes you on a gentle ride (with an inflatable to lie down on) and you can hop off any time you want.

Do not worry for all your adults worrying about the kids, there is an adults only pool that is a great place to get away from it all. The attendants at the pool instantly greet you with towels, cold drinks and beds to relax the day away. At the Oasis pool, you can order food, drinks and anything else you need and there are also cabanas to escape the sun. You do not even need suncream as they provide it all. Our tip is to make sure you are at the pool for sunset as the adjoining lake has an incredible reflection and the colours in the sky are some of the most brilliant we have seen.

To celebrate our Valentines Day, we booked in for a Couple Massage at the Spa on the Lower level. They told us to get there a bit earlier to enjoy the facilities but we had no idea what we were coming to. We walked in and were blown away by the waiting room. There were big couches to relax, plenty of food, chocolate, fireplaces and natural light to sit down and relax before your massage. IF the waiting room is not your thing, you can head straight into the lockers. In there you will find a steam room, rainforest shower, hot-tub, toilets, showers and ice wash.

The massage itself was in the same room and we had a peaceful 50-minute massage with relaxing lavender oils and expert masseuses. They asked plenty of questions and focused on sore and tight spots.

The resort has an 18 hole Golf course wrapped around it and guests are welcome to play on the course whenever they decide to book it. The Tranquilo course also hosts an LPGA event this year so you know the course is quality. If you do not want to have a full round and just enjoy a hit, there is a practice facility that you are welcome to book.

Rooms at Four Seasons Orlando

There are 443 rooms in the property and we took a room facing the golf course and Oasis Adults pool. Our room was a Park View Suite and was spilt into 2 sections. A living area with a full couch, outdoor and indoor seating with a coffee machine and wine on tap. Yes, that’s right, the room has a wine machine where you can buy a glass of wine and it just pours out for you, luckily for us, we are not big drinkers so we were not too tempted. There are two massive TV screens in the room and two bathrooms as well. In the main bathroom, there is a TV embedded within the mirror. One of the best features of the room was that we have a large balcony. From here we had our own view of the fireworks shows of EPCOT and MAGIC KINGDOM. Make sure you spend a bit more to get a west facing room to see the property and fireworks as the other side you do not have a clear view of them at night.

Sustainability

Four seasons have several systems in place to increase environmental awareness and within the room, there are reusable cups and you can change linen whenever you wish. However, there was still the use of plastic bottles in the rooms and around the pool which can be improved. Many of the straws that were there were nonplastic which is a positive step in the right direction. Like most things sustainable, it all comes down to the consumer!

Our experience at the Four Seasons Orlando

We love staying at Four Seasons and the Orlando property was no exception. With perfect weather nearly every day and a massive variety of activities to keep us busy, we really felt like we did not want to leave. Even the day that it rained, there was a magical sunset to keep us happy. We did not go and visit Disney once while we stayed at the property, but there was so much magic around the property it really gave the feeling like we were in a Disney theme park. If you have kids they will be entertained for days here. Even if you do not have any kids (like us) we found ourselves discovering something new around the property each day we were here.
