Check-in: Dusit Thani Maldives

The Maldives is high on many vacationers. The real question is where to stay in the Maldives? There are so many options and each and every one of them have different positives and negatives. As hotel reviewers, we want to show you what to expect at each property we visit so you can know what is the best for you based on your preferences and budget. We have been to Dusit Thani Maldives and here is all you need to know about it!

Great Things About the Dusit Thani Maldives

First of all, it is located in the UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve on the Mudhdhoo Island. Water and its colour is fantastic. You will be hosted with great Thai hospitality and very professional staff. The place is surrounded by a living house reef so it is a paradise for snorkelers and divers. You can also do some kayaking, kite surfing, sailing and jet-skiing.

The place is perfect for couples and families that are looking for active activities, incredible food and great spa experiences. Do spend some time investing in your wellness at the Devarana Spa.  If you have kids, the place has great facilities for them including amazing activities like sea safari, etc. Make sure you check their website for offers for families as they include extras from activities and excursions.

The food is exceptional at the Dusit Thani Maldives. Benjarong is an incredible Thai restaurant, so if you are into Thai food, you will absolutely love it. There are a few food outlets like The Market where you get the buffet and Sea Grill for steaks and seafood. If you fancy drink, there is of course a bar where you can spend the night!  The team will organize you customized experiences too based on your preferences and special requests.

Things to improve

This is not necessary to improve but getting to the Dusit Thani Maldives is quite a hike if you don’t want to spend on the seaplane! So if you want to get there as a family, you will want to crunch some numbers and take a seaplane to avoid having the hassle of having kids around while waiting for the domestic flight, etc. On a positive note, you always have access to the lounge before departure of the local flight which is better than waiting in the airport.

The resort is obviously beautiful and the design has some aspect of the Maldivian architecture but certainly not enough if you are looking for a traditional Maldivian look and feel. In terms of the rooms, the pool edge can be rough, I scratched myself and it wasn’t very pleasant.

Dusit Thani Maldives Rates

The rooms are so big and wonderful. Quality of all the amenities are top and the bed is obviously very comfortable. Would expect nothing less from Dusit Thani. For your comfort, you have a pillow card and can call to get the ones you prefer.

Our Final Thoughts

If you are living in Dubai and want a vacation, the Maldives should be on top of your list. Try to arrange island hopping and visit a few resorts instead of staying only at one. This way, you get to get different experiences. Absolutely loved the experience at Dusit Thani Maldives, mostly being with the excursion team and learning how to free dive. Not only the activities were great for us, the food was a memorable experience. Just breakfast by itself is incredible and we sure like our Asian flavours in the mornings like dim sums. Do use the most of the fresh fruit bar but also to make some delicious juices out of it.
