Technology items we can’t travel without

Technology has changed the way we travel forever and sure changed the way we pack as well! You have limited space and weight, plus you need to bring everything you need in order to not spend money on extras.  Technology is one of those things that is so heavy, but fundamental when you travel. Here’s a list of technology things we need to pack when we travel!

Cameras

We can’t Travel without our camera equipment. Our Canon EOS M6, Nikon 5000, GoPro Here 5, Insta 360, DJI Mavic Pro, DJI Spark, name it, we have it… maybe. We love creating content and most of our carry on is composed with camera gear. You can read fully about our travel photography here

Camera accessories

They may not be electronic, but they go along of our cameras! We have a Split Gadget Dome for our GoPro, tripods, Ollo Clips for our iPhones and phone protectors for when we want to Bring them in the water! We also need

Smartphone

Can we even leave home without our smartphones nowadays? While travelling, our iPhones are probably the most important items. If we have to chose only one tech item to bring with us, it would be our iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 8 Plus. They take photos and you can work on it as well. I personally have 2 phones, using our old iPhone 6 to store all our apps to do some work. Smartphones can help us share our travels and to update our followers. Don’t forget that if you travel a lot and your country blocks your phone, get it unlocked so you can use the SIM cards from another country.

Phone accessories

Other than our Ollo Clip extensions, we also need split adaptors to be able to charge at the same time as using our headphones. The adaptors are called Lightning Audio + Charge RockStar, from Belkin. Belkin is one of the top trusted brands with iPhone accessories. We have our iPhone charging cords, but do appreciate a few other ones that are longer laying around!

Power banks

There’s no way we leave home without power banks, so when we travel, we actually bring many with us. Our favourite power bank is the Valet Charger Power Pack 6700 mAh because it can charge our Apple Watch and quite fast too! So convenient considering we did lose our charger for the watch. In terms of our favourite brands for power banks, we would recommend Anker and Belkin. They both survived very long so far without losing their charges. Considering we brought our Belkin power banks up Everest base camp in the very cold temperature, it had lost a little bit of charge, but still going strong!

Laptops

Mitch has a 1 year old Macbook Pro (not the latest model with the little screen on the keyboard) and I have a pretty old Macbook Air 11 from 2014. I can’t believe it is still alive and working great! I may exaggerate with great, I haven’t updated it for the past 2 years and I am not able to transfer music manually to my iPhone 8 Plus because I can’t download the latest iTunes haha! Depending on our travels, we sometimes bring both our laptops, one of them, or none of them! We didn’t bring our laptops to our Nepal trip for example considering we were hiking Everest base camp.

Portable hard drives

We don’t save many files on our laptops but on our hard drives. We literally have over 10 ones considering taking RAW pictures and videos can eat a lot of space. Hard drives are also convenient to transport and access when you need it. Cloud services are also a good alternative for file storage, but if you store things online, you need to consider the speed of internet, etc. We use both Western Digital and Seagate as our go-to brands.

Goodbye!
