5 Stylish Ways To Revamp Your Living Space

Please note, this is a collaborative post with FlooringHub.

Home renovation is something that brings me great joy although it can be rather stressful at times. If it’s not deciding on a colour palette, its deciding on the energy and harmony I want to bring into my dwelling. Do I want chaos, calm, or somewhere in-between? Most of all, can it be done affordably? It most certainly can. If you have just moved in somewhere, or you have been in your place for a while, then here are five ways to Revamp your Living space this year. Whilst the weather is nice and you may have a little time off, it’s a great time to get started.

Minimalism

Less is more. Minimalism is all about few and far between; simplicity. You can revamp your living space by decluttering or simply tidying items away to create more light and airiness  into your space. Instead of having items littered over your home, invest in innovative storage solutions so you don’t have to completely get rid of everything… just yet.

The easiest way to make a start on bringing minimalism into your home is to focus on one room at a time. If you go full throttle it cam make you feel like you have nothing left. I recommend starting with the living room as this room is designed for entertainment and relaxing. A good way to get started is to visualise the space you want to create. What can you live with and what can you live without?

Don’t forget, one the main keys to maintaining a minimalistic home is tidying regularly, avoiding buying often and being intentional with the purpose for your home.

Maximalism

More is more. It is rather ironic that I have gone through how to create a minimalist living space above but the maximalist home revamp is all about more and more. Think print, patterns, textures, vintage, antique, unique. Where minimalism takes away, maximalism gives. It doesn’t have to be about chaos, it’s about going big, bold and busy. Revamping your home in a maximalist style can definitely be done affordably by visiting antique stores, charity shops and car boot sales. You may be walking away with a truly historic item that will find it’s home in your home sometime soon.

If you are not quite ready to go full throttle with maximalism, try sticking to a colour palette and then bringing in pieces or textures that fit in with it.

Take it to the floor

Replacing your home flooring might seem like a drastic way to revamp your home but it can really bring your interiors together. Some rooms you may prefer to have carpet, others tiles and others wood. It all depends what works for your lifestyle and who actually lives with you. Kids (and some adults) are notorious for ruining carpet so wood flooring could be a great alternative! Why not try dark engineered wood flooring? Available in a ton of finishes, there is something for everyone. Best of all, it gets better with time, it’s easy to clean and if you really want some texture you can add some rugs.

Texture

There are a plethora of ways you can you revamp your home this year with texture. The easiest one is with a rug – something fluffy? Faux fur? Bamboo? The possibilities are endless. Best of all, you can layer and rotate them depending on the season. Nothing beats a fluffy rug when winter rolls around.

Another way to bring texture into your home is through plants. Not only are they good for your mental health, they literally brighten up your space and there is a personal challenge as to how long you can keep them alive. Get down to your local garden centre, search cheap plants online or start fresh with some soil and seeds. I’m rooting for you!

A lick of paint

Painting is an instant way to revamp your living space, especially if you’ve gone down the maximalism or minimalism route. It’s relatively inexpensive with paint available for all budgets and it can be done on a DIY or professional basis. Painting doesn’t have to be a drastic change either, it can simply be a refresh of your interior where walls or doors have dulled over the years. If you’re not wanting to bother with covering all your furniture with dust sheets to paint a room, you can always do a smaller job by refreshing cupboards, knobs and handles.
