3 Solo At Home Date Ideas

Please note, this post contains gifted products sent for my review.

If someone told me in 2019 that I would be writing a post about celebrating a Valentine’s Day virtually in 2021, I wouldn’t believe you. Who would have thought that going outside would be illegal?

Now whilst this post isn’t written specifically for Valentine’s Day, it is written in the context of dates don’t have to be with another person, they can be just for you. Given that we’re still going to be living through this major world event for a little while longer, we all need to do things to make at home feel different.

So that’s right, date yourself. Whether you’re in a relationship, single as a Pringle, live alone or with people, you too can add a little something special to your evenings (or mornings). I’ve listed out a couple of ideas below.

Prosecco Party for One

Who says you need to be at a bottomless brunch to enjoy the wondrous drink that is prosecco? With the Valentine’s Mini Prosecco from sayitwithchampers.co.uk, you too can keep the self-love alive all year round. With up to 5 lines of customised text, you can relish drinking it with your favourite meal but repurposing it as a vase or candle holder.

I enjoyed mine after another day of working from home with a delicious meal for one.

Portrait Mode

Have you always wanted to get some nice photos of yourself taken but too scared to book a photographer? I have. This is where being at home comes in handy; you can cultivate a space, area or set up for your very own photoshoot. Source a few pops, lay out your favourite outfit, put some make up on (or not) and get snapping. I would recommend purchasing a ring light with a Bluetooth clicker.

Fellow blogger and photographer, Yossy, has a great blog post on shooting at home here.

Painting

Much like my post here about interactive lockdown activities you can do from home, painting is a fun activity you can enjoy solo.

Requirements: Blank canvas, piece of paper, art materials and some imagination.

So there you have it, three activities you can do solo at home in the name of enjoyment. Try one or try them all!

Disclaimer: This conclusion is for the singles among us (me included).

Celebrate your singleness.

You may never get all this time back, so do you! You’ll have more than enough time when in a relationship to compromise, so as a singleton why shouldn’t it be all about you?

Go and watch Fifty Shades Darker and cringe at those scenes. Overfill your basket on half price chocolate day on February 15th or perhaps the best one… Indulge in your secret single behaviour (SSB). If you want to eat those chicken wings in bed or wear the t-shirt with the holes in it without fear of judgement.

GO FOR IT.

The best thing you can do is embrace this chapter in your life. It won’t be forever, so turn every page with hope, passion and ambition. You’ll never know who you’ll meet, so be open, accepting but most of all – BE YOU.
