Musings: Getting Glam With Glamoriser – A Review

Please note, this product was sent for my review.

Confession: I am addicted to my straighteners but in an age of ‘I want healthy hair’ I have slowly started started to ditch them and look for other ways of getting the same effect.  I was kindly sent the Glamoriser  ‘Straight and Smooth’ speed brush to try out and in the words of a typical blogger ‘I AM OBSESSED’. But what is this tool exactly?

“Ease of a hairbrush with the results of a straightener. Get salon results in less time with this easy to use brush. The unique triple-action hot + cool bristle technology allows you to straighten and set your style, for super straight locks that last all day long. Black Diamond Oil infused bristles combat frizz & fly-aways whilst boosting shine, luminescence and smoothness.”

This is how may hair usually looks when I straighten it – dry and lifeless.

“It’s new to the market, and is a fantastic way to get that blowdried look FAST!”

Low and behold my hair isn’t naturally straight as much as I would like it to be. It’s frizzy, unruly and the curls have a mind of their own but it does straighten well. My hair texture is a hybrid of afro and something else, all I know is that it varies according to the season. In summer, humidity and me don’t get on and in the winter it becomes really dry.

My thoughts exactly…

Product features:

  • Black Diamond Oil infused bristles combat frizz & fly-aways whilst boosting shine, luminescence and smoothness

I’d always thought the only way to get straight hair was with expensive blowdries, tons of product or ceramic irons. Using something I’m familiar with (a brush) took me a little while to get used to but when I say the results I was hooked.

The Straight and Smooth styler would work really well on thick afro hair to not only detangle but as an alternative to damaging flat irons.

  • Varible Heat Settings – 80°C- 210°C to tailor for every hair type

Some of us have fine hair and some of us are blessed with thick hair. It’s important that you are able to vary the heat setting accordingly. I liked using the higher heat settings on the length of my hair but as it got closer to the root (e.g the fresher/newer hair), I took the temperature down to 90C.

I promise I look happier than this in person!
  • LCD display and heat ready indicator – watch on the screen as your brush
  • Multi-voltage for worldwide use and UK/EU plug adaptor for travel

As I am a very frequent traveller, having the UK/EU adaptor is super helpful and it cuts down on carrying another adapter. Not only that every country works on a different voltage and not knowing which can ruin their electrics and you’re electrics.

  • 3m swivel cord for relaxed, tangle-free styling

Self-explanatory but sometimes you may find yourself in small spaces or far away from the power source.

See!

Overall, I really like the results of the Glamoriser ‘Straight and Smooth’ speed brush. First of all, my hair felt healthier on immediate touch, it didn’t crackle or give off steam like my straighteners would. Secondly, it helped majorly with detangling; I find that I have to detangle my hair prior to straightening but bristles helped add that extra smoothness.

I can’t wait to bring this with me on my trip to Japan in November, I may just have to bin the straighteners now (or give them to charity because we need to live sustainably).

The Glamoriser speed brush is available here priced at £69.99.

Have you tried any of the Glamoriser styling tools before?
